The problem with that is if you change your ISP, for a variety of reasons, you lose your email.
Having something separate give you a lot more flexibility.
I recommend ProtonMail, too. It’s encrypted, no ads, no landing page with links to news stories to get passed.

How do you recover lost passwords?
Well there is an option to list a recovery email but it is not required.
As a follow-up to that I had quite many “junk” emails I used to sign up for sites and such. Some of them began their drive to collect more data and started required secondary email or cell #’s.
Almost weeks into that I began getting messages like “we have detected strange activity on your email account”, please confirm the account. Suddenly, a secondary email was not good enough, only a phone confirmation. Accounts I had for 15 years suddenly gone and could not be recovered until I gave them my cell. Never a problem with any of them before companies began being data gluttons.
This happened at aol, yahoo, mail.com, hotmail. So I have started using protonmail exclusively as my free email option.
