Just days before President Joe Biden passed one of the most consequential spending bills in American history, Kevin McCarthy, the Republican minority leader, was reading Dr Seuss on Twitter.

What, one might wonder, was going on? McCarthy was reading from Green Eggs and Ham in response to a decision made by the estate of Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr Seuss) to stop publishing six books by the much-loved children’s author because they contained material deemed racially offensive. The issue inflamed conservative media, dominated the airwaves and drew angry condemnation from senior politicians, including Ted Cruz, a Texas senator, who blamed the Seuss decision on Biden.

"He may not be adored but the grandfatherly president is a difficult man to hate. Whipping up anti-Biden sentiment was hard for Trump during the election and remains difficult today."

Totally hard to hold a grudge against someone who was caught on tape calling US troops "stupid b*****ds".

The question is, do they love Joe Biden or Pork more?

It’ll take more than a thousand years to pay off the last three spending bills.

GOP just play acts on the opposition.

They wanted Joe, they dragged him across the line, and they got Joe.

Now, they have to take some outrage.

Republicans are politically craven, stupid and tone deaf.

The GOP is a dick that goes limp during sex on Saturday night then gets hard for no damn reason in church the next morning. Phuck ‘em.

Let’s face it . . . the Republican party will be nothing without Jesus. Considering God is in control of everyone’s next breath. . .wouldn’t it be wise to put Him at the head of the party?

—————

Warning. Word salad ahead.

The pork, of course

I hate Joe Biden with every fiber of my being.

But the extended unemployment will keep me alive until I go off to the UK and start a professorship position at a university there in September (report date is June), £68K/annum isn’t bad.

There are absolutely no jobs in Colorado available to me except minimum wage, manual labor jobs. And I will not do that. Period. Full stop.

I don’t plan on living in my car - rents in most places are far more than what minimum wage pays, even at $12.32/ hr.

Having a 25% wage garnishment from a debt collector/ property management company - AMCRent LLC, demanding rent from April 2020 to August 2020 and late fees, about $15,000 in total (although I ended my lease and vacated the apartment in March 2020 at the lease expiry) doesn’t help matters.

For context, I’ve been in Airbnbs April to July and in the Philippines since July until coming back to the US in January.

My Airbnb I’m staying at is $1200/ month for a room and that’s in the middle of bumfuck Weld County. $500 a month car payment (including insurance) will leave just few hundred for food/gas. (I still have my wife and kids in the Philippines I have to send for expenses every month, about $600/ month)

To break even with Unemployment benefits, I need a job that pays $24/hr.

Impossible with my skill set in Colorado.

Indians absolutely dominate software engineering, and most positions go through Indian recruitment contracting companies, including the weekly list I get from Connecting Colorado or available at the local county Workforce Center.

In almost 1 year, I got perhaps ten American recruiters calling/emailing me with positions, vs. thousands of Indian recruiters (who go straight to spam or deleted).

So yeah, I’ll be a leach off the government until I’m off to Merry Old England.

Read my comment again, I said "church" and you are talking about "school" so I think you are more talking to yourself than me.

I am not saying that there were no pretty girls at my church.

Nice rant, 4 out of 5 stars. Just wait until you deal with the cost of living in the UK, your £68k/yr will be actually £34k/yr after taxes. But look on the bright side, after you have 34k, you still have to pay insane rent, travel taxes if you go into London. Not to mention $4.70/gal fuel, that is if you can pay the licensing for your car. My advice when you move to the UK, dont get hurt or get sick, those 12-18 month waiting times for medical attention could be detrimental to your health.

Can’t pay for medical insurance here so it’s emergency room treatment that I could never pay or won’t pay for anyways. Kinda like the illegals do that we rail about.

Can’t rent anywhere do to me being placed on the eviction database in April by this AMCRent LLC Property Management Company. My FICO score is trashed. From a decent 758 before the wage garnishment it’s now 538. Most places require a 620 or higher to qualify for rental, and at $50 per application, I quickly gave up. So it’s only AirBNBs that can take me.

Or get a job that pays more than Colorado Unemployment pays currently me ($24/hr), so what are my options?

Can’t do any manual labor due to physical strength issues and I can’t waste a decade of more getting a skilled blue collar job that pays more than half of what I was making in Software Engineering. (30 years of teaching and industry experience).

Was actually getting interviews after Trump banned the H1B scum from US.

Amazing how quickly bona-fide interviews dried up after Big Tech sued Trump over the H1B restrictions and the DOJ chose not to fight them. (It was like all within a 2-week period).

Got a CDL, failed my bi-annual DOT due to hypertension and HBP.

So other than going overseas myself, what are my options?

Really, honestly...? I’m all ears.

Industrial automation PLC programing? With your tech background you should have no problem learning ladder logic, scripted text or HMI development. If you already have that knowledge, then you are sitting with your thumb on your own head holding yourself down.
I earn north of 120k without a college degree doing that, and I had to learn it on my own from trial and error and my own ambition.

There is a need for skilled trades since 0bama shuttered the trade schools. Its an open market.
