This is when all this covid sh!t started.
A minor blizzard happens in Texas, and the electric is shut down.
Greg Abbott and ERCOT(the Electric Reliabitlty Council of Texas) should be held accountable.
Bttt
It’s been below freezing, 0 degrees, and even below zero with wind chills over several days.
In Texas. It has nothing to do with snow amounts.
This a once a ten year winter here in Texas, and what do I get at work, a 36 hour black out.
I'm sorry Holly, that is not accepetable for Abbott's behavior during this crisis.
Oklahoma gets lower temps than Texas and they do not have electric blackouts due to artic tempertures.
Oklahoma had winterized their plants and wells Texas doesn’t normally get cold enough to justify the costs. As much as people want to blame wind natural gas really dropped over 50% I drill gas ,oil and Salt water disposal wells rigs are shut in, trucks are not running to tanker out the salt water produced from.wells and the gathering lines are HDPE plastic laid directly on the surface not trenched below the frost line due to costs and the lack of need normally. Single digits for days at a time just freeze the saltwater gas mix in the gathering lines and the well shuts in. Add in the power outages knocking the electric pumps off line from wells on ESP Pumps and more production drops off line. This is a once in a generation storm. DFW had once in 70 year temps and snowfalls, central Texas had once in a hundred as did Houston.

Texas screwed up. I live right above Marcellus Utica and all the pumps and lines are winterized. Also Texas did not use the more expensive low temp lubricants in their windmills
I agree. This situation could have been prepared for even if it’s a once in a decade event. I read they had the $ to invest, but had not used it.
I’m sorry to hear you’re going thru the black outs. Do you have power at home? My son is working in Ft worth this week. He’s staying at a hotel and it’s getting cold inside. Plus, restaurants are closed and without a kitchen he’s eating lunchables. He is supposedly to come home tomorrow. But, I’m not sure if he will be able to get out since the airports are a disaster. I hope they get this sorted right away and you are ok too.
