James S. Brady Press Briefing Room
5:18 P.M. EST
MS. MCENANY: I am here to deliver this message on behalf of the entire White House. Let me be clear: The violence we saw yesterday at our nation’s Capitol was appalling, reprehensible, and antithetical to the American way. We condemn it — the President and this administration — in the strongest possible terms. It is unacceptable, and those that broke the law should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
I stood here at this podium the day after a historic church burned amid violent riots, and I said this: “The First Amendment guarantees the right of the people to peaceably assemble. What we saw last night in Washington and across the country was not that.” End quote. Make no mistake: What we saw yesterday afternoon in the halls of our Capitol, likewise, was not that.
We grieve for the loss of life and those injured, and we hold them in our prayers and close to our hearts at this time. We thank our valiant law enforcement officers who are true American heroes.
What we saw yesterday was a group of violent rioters undermining the legitimate First Amendment rights of the many thousands who came to peacefully have their voices heard in our nation’s capital. Those who violently besieged our Capitol are the opposite of everything this administration stands for. The core value of our administration is the idea that all citizens have the right to live in safety, peace, and freedom.
Those who are working in this building are working to ensure an orderly transition of power. Now it is time for America to unite, to come together to reject the violence that we have seen. We are one American people under God.
Thank you very much.

Good enough but...
“Those who violently besieged our Capitol “?
I saw them enter at the beckoning of the Capitol Police.

Someone needs to brief her on what really went down. She just went down on my approval scale. Poor choice of words.

Yeah, it was undeniably a peaceful demonstration... until the Capitol Police opened the doors.
Which is why they opened those doors.
Infiltrators, and/or hotheads, then gave the media what they wanted.

I don’t think the Capitol Police were in ignorance of just who they were letting in. And I don’t mean just the cops on the ground there but I think they were following orders not making decisions about it.
In fact I don’t think the Chief of the CP or the Sgt at Arms of the CP made that decision either ... in spite of the fact that both were fired by Nanzi Pelozi yesterday.

What did you think Trump’s position would be? He’s as law and order as they come.

I saw the assist also mrsmith. Knew at the instant that it was Antifi. Lord, we’ve seen how they operate so many times we know their movements. The first ones up were Antifa and the door had to have opened for them, so there was help inside by Capitol police. It was so obvious. I said it the minute I saw it. I was yelling, “Don’t go in!”

I do believe some Antifa people were involved in some of the nonsense that went on.
I also believe that blaming them solely for the actions of some of “our” people is wrong. These are grown men. If they are that gullible to follow someone into breaking the law, shame on them.
Who doesn’t know that entering the Capitol building, especially under those circumstances, is flat out wrong? Some say they got caught up in the moment, perhaps they did. They must now face the consequences for lack of impulse control. I wished all these other prior riots/protests were treated as harshly, but they were not. What I’m not about to do, is let them off the hook because other people did it and got away with it. Children lash out, we have all seen this raising our kids. That type of thinking or reaction is exactly what I teach my children not to do.
I also have a tremendous amount of respect for the press secretary. She is smart as a whip and leather tough. I’m pretty sure she did her homework before she issued her statements. I believe out President was also somewhat involved in the investigation. I seriously doubt they didnt look into the prospect of Antifa acting as agent provocateur’s.
These guys actions made the President, Republicans and “Us” look bad. They may have had good intentions, but their actions were foolish. They have done more harm than good.
I just cant justify their actions or see how this helps to get “our” people get elected. What did they expect to be the end result?
I just don’t see it. If you disagree, thats okay, I’m not a democrat and I wont shut down opposite opinions.
Someone tell me what positive result did or will this have?

Does she realize that there were Antifa and BLM fifth columnists engaging in violence? At this point, you need to prove things like that.
And no, "Because somebody said it on the internet," isn't proof.
