State's Department of Natural Resources said details need to be finalized
Wolf hunting is coming back to Wisconsin.
While all of the details are still being figured out, it was recently announced that Wisconsin will be holding its first wolf hunting season in over a half-decade. The season is scheduled to begin in November.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced that it is planning a wolf harvest season for the fall of 2021. According to the announcement, the decision was made after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed gray wolves from the federal endangered species list on Jan. 4.
This decision returns management of wolf populations to state authorities.
Keith Warnke, administrator of Fish, Wildlife and Parks Division for the Wisconsin DNR, told Fox 21, "It is tremendously important to us to have a good, robust, strong population of wolves and we know we can do that. We’ve managed hunting seasons in the past and we’ve maintained a good, strong population of wolves."
Fox 21 reports that it is estimated that 1,000 wolves live in Wisconsin, which is reportedly an increase from previous years. Details for the upcoming hunt are still being finalized and the Wisconsin DNR reportedly will consult with the state’s Native American tribes before setting a harvest cap.

Wolves came off the endangered species list yesterday, allowing for state regulation
Wolves? Really? What about a ‘Rat hunting season.
Permits aren’t out yet.
Excellent. Hopefully a lot of greenies will throw themselves between the wolves and the hunters. That’d be a twofer.
peta injunction in 3,.....2,...... They’re so cute and cuddly right?
Depending on the types of Rat’s you are talking about normal 4 legged rats are unprotected..
Muskrats have season.
Others might be more trouble.
too bad pennsylvania isn’t part of wisconsin...
I have a house in Northern WI and I have seen wolves many times. I don’t really understand the hatred for these animals, honestly I think they keep the deer, ground hogs and other animals in check.
They keep livestock in check as well. Depredation payments in WI run around $200,000 a year, and it’s not easy to prove your livestock was killed by a wolf rather than coyote or feral dog.
Have to vote him out.
My guess since they’re no longer endangered at some point the depredation payments will end. Minnesota reverted to their pre-endangered laws yesterday, meaning you can kill a wolf to protect your property or pet, in much of the state preemptively. I’m sure WI and most states where they’re present will do something similar.
Packs versus solos (primarily for coyotes, but not ferals)
Feral dogs should be open season and shot on sight!
“That’d be a twofer.”

Merciful Maude, no.
If, however, the anti-hunters got too close to the wolves, it can be said they volunteered to be eaten.
Let’s not have hunters being targeted for prosecution, okay?
Let’s hope the wolves get a lot of fresh food via the folks who are too stupid to understand that nature does need culling every now and then.
And the really insane part of this? The folks who are against animals being hunted are most likely the ones who believe abortionists have the right to hunt unarmed/unborn babies.
I don’t think you can shoot any dog unless it’s threatening or damaging property. They’re considered property not wildlife thus not regulated by the DNR. Of course if they’re truly feral, there’s no one to complain. But like feral pigs which are wildlife and can be hunted all year, if you shoot a domestic pig running loose, you’re responsible. Coyotes/Wolves/Coywolves are similar in a way. You can’t really tell them apart. I’m aware of one instance where a trapper was cited for killing a wolf. Penalties being harsh, loss of hunting and trapping privilege’s for a period of years, hired a lawyer. Lawyer had a DNA test done, turned out to have some coyote genes, thus not a wolf and not endangered. Coyotes can be hunted all year, so no harm, no foul. Amazing you need a lawyer for outdoor activities like this.
Note the example I gave in post 15.
When your livestock and pets are being killed by predators.... It’s time.
There are rats and then there are ‘Rats. I was talking of the latter.
Start with the Democrats and work your way up the animal chain.
