Lawyers representing Louie Gohmert and a group of Arizona Republicans disclosed in a court filing Tuesday that Vice President Pence rejected their request to join their attempt to block electors.
Gohmert and 11 GOP “alternate” electors from Arizona filed suit against Pence on Monday in an attempt to argue that the vice president has sole authority to determine which presidential electors Congress will count when it certifies the results of the election. The suit essentially asks the court to grant Pence the authority on Jan. 6 to overrule the results in swing states such as Arizona and have Congress count only pro-Trump electors.
In new court filings made public Tuesday, the plaintiffs disclosed that they had reached out to Pence before filing their suit in an attempt to join forces but that their talks did not reach any kind of agreement.
“In the teleconference, Plaintiffs’ counsel made a meaningful attempt to resolve the underlying legal issues by agreement, including advising the Vice President’s counsel that Plaintiffs intended to seek immediate injunctive relief in the event the parties did not agree,” lawyers for Gohmert and the electors said in the filing. “Those discussions were not successful in reaching an agreement and this lawsuit was filed.”
The revelation was made in a filing in which Gohmert’s attorneys sought an expedited schedule for a ruling from U.S. District Judge Jeremy Kernodle of the Eastern District of Texas, a Trump appointee.

How can you over turn an election that is incomplete?
We remember We remember
Oh, please!
What the hell is the goal behind this lawsuit?
The cowardly RINOs had better prepare to hunker down in some kind of bunkers. They must not understand that people are pissed off like never before.
Its actually a good sign.
If he had “signed onto” this legal attempt, it not only would have signified his intent ahead of time...but he would also be seen as acting in a partisan fashion verses performing his non-partisan job of calling the electors.
My 1-1/2 cents...
Does Pence not think he has the authority to refuse to accept tainted electors?
What exactly is the relief they’re requesting?
Same response now as with the other times the article has been posted: No one knows what’s going to happen, or what VP Pence will or will not do.
I think Pence was one of the leaks all along at this point.
I agree. I think Pence is one of the Good Guys. He’s playing the smart game for Trump.
the third of November?
Jesus FReepers! Calm da F down will ya?
I have a good feeling about the judge. It may be that everyone is in agreement to force VP to call the election but rather to cluster-buck it so that it can be thrown to the house. If these questions are under litigation Pence may be STUCK.
Perhaps that is all they need....
He’s looking at 2024. If he had signed on,and it failed, he would be done.
By not signing on,but being quietly supportive from behind the scenes, he can run in 2024 and win.
Heard Gohmert explain that this suit was to invalidated, that is determine as Un-constitutional the The Electoral Count Act of 1887. This Act is un-Constitutional, but that has not stopped it being codified into Title 3 Chapter 1 of the US Code.

It can go either way. I am more inclined to believe he will run with RINO crowd. But I could be wrong.
He may act when siding with RINO could bring tsunami of backlash which will end his political career for good and go down in history as an infamous villain.
Dramatic reversal could happen even if its odds are low.
So was Obama’s DACA order - didn’t stop that.
Must be a plan we don’t know about.....otherwise Pence is gone!
The goal is not clear to me, either. If Pence has the sole authority to accept or reject the electoral certifications, then how can a court force him to exercise his discretion in a way that will aid the President? While I believe the President won the election, I would be surprised if any court intervened to tell Pence how to exercise his authority.
