I tried 5 holiday beers, and the best had a juicy citrus flavor that was far too easy to drink

This holiday season you may want to diversify your normal beer consumption and try out a seasonal holiday brew.

But there can be so many beers to choose from, you may not know where to start. To make your decision easier, I decided to put five widely available holiday beers to the test.

I sampled Samuel Adams' Winter Lager, the Shiner Holiday Cheer Bavarian-style dark wheat from Spoetzl Brewery, Sierra Nevada's Celebration Fresh Hop IPA, Harpoon's Winter Warmer Holiday Ale, and New Belgium Brewing's Accumulation White IPA.

Here are the five holiday beers I tried, ranked from my least favorite to my favorite.

My holiday beers all come from Ridgeway. The Bad Elf series. Good beers. Large beers. Strong beers.

Some one gave me a 6 pack of Sam Adam’s Pumpkin beer, it was the only beer I ever poured down the sink.

ALL OF IT!!

My son likes to drink the seasonal brews, I can't stand them.

I exclusively drink a local microbrew beer, Redhook Longhammer IPA, tastes like some of the German beers I drank while serving abroad but without the steep cost.

I scanned the beer selection at a local store yesterday, and this is what I saw: IPA, IPA, IPA, IPA, lager, IPA, IPA, IPA, IPA, IPA, IPA, Amber Ale, IPA, IPA, IPA, IPA, Bud, IPA, IPA, IPA, IPA, Guinness, IPA, IPA, IPA, IPA, Winter Ale, IPA, IPA, IPA, and so on. You get the picture.

I bought the winter ale (Deschutes), but haven't tried it yet. My favorite beers were a group of about six beers using very old recipes, brewed by a company in Scotland, but they are no longer available anywhere in my area, as far as I know.

I like a good IPA, but yes it is ridiculous in recent years.

I have had many beers from Great Lakes Brewing Company, the secret is in the burning water...

A fine brewery.
