Sunbeam advised against using the recalled crockpot in pressure cooker mode...

I didn't even know there was such a thing. A multi-tasking slow cooker with a speedy nuke-em-under-pressure mode. What could go wrong?

And just when you think those childhood fears of 'sploding pressure cookers had passed...

Crock pot lids don’t latch down that sounds more like an Insta-pot.🤔

My 1977 Rival crockpot has yet to explode. Though it will push out some of the contents past the lid if I overfill it.

Chinese factories have about as good QC as Chinese virus labs!

Skimming quickly, I thought it said “Crack Pots”. That would be a great recall!

Chinese factories ...
Oh, don’t get me started. The place where I work gets nearly half the components from China. It’s crap-tacular. And THEN trying to convince them that they made the parts wrong and we want our money back ... selective loss of English gets engaged.

When dead Turkeys fly...

Just imaging having your thanksgiving meal thrown at you by your crock pot and your ceiling fan. Is that not a great holiday story in 10 years? Beats salt in the pie by miles, seen that one happen.

Crockpots (Sunbeam) trying to burn us to death...
Crackpots (communists) planning to burn us to death...

The lid doesn’t fasten down on my 40 plus year old Crock Pot, and food has never jumped out of it.

Probably by the skilled workers in slave labor camp 2417.

Idea for a slow news day thread—what’s your worst kitchen ruination?

I burnt a loaded six egg omelet in 1980. I still grumble about that one! I was SO jonesing for it, too!

While I do not know details about this company, please remember that many American companies have sold the naming rights to their brands to (mostly) Chinese companies.

Westinghouse televisions, Polaroid imaging and probably the holder of the Crock-Pot name earn up front money from naming rights.

If no American engineers are overseeing the design or QC of the products, this is exactly what happens over and over.

That’s a heck of an omelet, would never be able to eat that myself. During training to be a chef, I’m not, figured out the hours I would be working and decided there had to be a better way.
Let some Perch go out that had started to turn just a touch. No food poisoning but sure had one pissed off customer. Lesson learned in the hi-paced environment of the restaurant world. Personally that one bugged me for a while. Back in those days, we had no dates on food in the storage/fridges. Smelled fine but failed.
I’ve gotten busy and set the smoke alarm off a few times as well, some multi tasking projects are better than others.

Blessings!

It is the Crock Pot company’s version of an Instant Pot. Many companies now make a pressure cooker/slow cooker combo appliance.
