It was forty-five years ago tonight that the Edmund Fitzgerald, the largest ship plying the Great Lakes, sank and took 29 good men to the bottom of Lake Superior.

The way the wind is here tonight in Michigan, I can not even imagine the power of wind on Lake Superior.
Now I have to go listen to a song...
These weeks, all I am worried about is the “Wreck of the Joseph Robinette Biden” and I pray it goes straight to Dave’s Jones Locker.

Sad ending for a good ship and men. It’s a risk you take when you sail with a ship. Great Lakes or oceans, it is what it is. Ships, subs, or a dingy, when you’re out of sight of land Mother Nature and God own your world and your ass. RIP.

Thanks for posting this...I’ve always been interested in this tragedy. And to think that I was only 3 years old when this happened.
And we said “Joe, it’s been good to know yaaaa”
That is great start to a Weird Al type parady.
Would make Al & Lightfoot proud.
Watched the entire video. Then searched YT for a version with written lyrics. This singer has a strange accent and mumbles through a great deal of the song. Hard to believe he was a recording artist.
That said, after I understood the song/video I found it to be quite a good tribute to the men lost in that tragedy.
Two most haunting lines, imo....
