All those with invitations to the 245th birthday celebration of the Marine Corps: one step forward—hut!!
Whoa not so fast, Mattis. As you were, Kelly. Allen, you are dismissed . . . and double time it you ridiculous person.
My impression, which runs as deep as any I have formed in my long life, is that the vast majority of jarheads take their honor WAY seriously. Yes I have seen some bad apples, and truthfully more than a few, that have cast some tarnish on the EGA. We all have. But never enough to make more than a whit of difference, really.
Until now. Now come the 3 Amigos with the layers of gold braid festooning their goofy sombreros. A cabal of bad-faith bozos. From the ultimate ranks of the USMC??? I would never have believed it. Maybe I am especially ashamed of John Kelly, who saw his Marine son fall KIA in Afghanistan.
Does not anyone remember the moment on Memorial Day at Arlington, where Donald Trump stood by Kelly’s side at the grave of his son offering words of consolation and personal tribute? Do YOU remember that John? If you do, your mouth didn’t get the memo. You keep voicing stupidities and grudges about Donald Trump. Incredible! Sir you have become a moral midget with no center. That such a person as you can wear 4 stars in the USMC, scrambles my brain. Time (past time) to flush out the stables in those top ranks. Where are the real leaders?? Hello? If not right here and now . . .when??? Are you all timid or what? Man that flat does not track with my memories of Marine officers. STAND UP.
Of course I am indulging myself. But I claim the momentary privilege on this 245th Birthday. Because my memories of the atmosphere in all those prior Birthday celebrations, are so clear and so unique. You can feel the bond, feel the spirituality of shared respect, feel the genuine commitment to the nation. I will go so far as to call it phenomenal. Marines out there, you know whereof I speak.
Regrettably, the Amigos are currently doing their Elmer Gantry imitations to run down Donald Trump like Everready Bunnies for Biden. Sometimes it verges on psychedelic. If you told me this was possible, I would not have believed it. I mean NOT. But alas, here we are.
Anyway, that’s my speech, onward. Happy Birthday and Semper Fidelis to all Marines of good heart and faith. Hope your day today is filled with great feelings and memories.
As for the Amigos, I will claim we speak with one voice: GTFO, there’s the door. You don’t get any cake.
