Boom: Trump administration files antitrust suit against Google
The Verge ^ | Oct 20, 2020, 8:33am EDT | By Russell Brandom

Posted on 10/20/2020 6:56:20 AM PDT by RandFan

Attorney General William Barr is set to file suit against Google today for illegal monopolization of the search and ad markets, kicking off one of the largest antitrust cases in US history. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the case will focus on search and search-focused advertising, rather than the company’s broader targeted ad business.

According to the Journal’s sources, the Justice Department will allege that Google “is maintaining its status as gatekeeper to the internet through an unlawful web of exclusionary and interlocking business agreements that shut out competitors.”

Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey A. Rosen has announced a briefing later this morning, which is likely to provide more details on the case.

The case is one of the most ambitious antitrust actions ever undertaken against a tech company, drawing together parallel investigations from the Department of Justice and a range of state attorneys general. The Department of Justice briefed state AGs on the case at the end of September, according to a report from The Washington Post. More than 10 state attorneys general are expected to sign onto the case, per the Journal, but others are likely to file separate antitrust charges.

Google has faced antitrust action before, but never on this scale. The most significant investigation concluded in 2013, when the company changed its AdSense policies to resolve a Federal Trade Commission investigation without formal legal action. Google has also faced a string of fines from regulators in the European Union, including €1.5 billion over its AdSense policy, €4.3 billion over software bundling in Android, and €2.4 billion for manipulating shopping results in Google search.

How Google Manipulated Millions of Votes for Hillary in 2016
American Thinker | 09/09/2019 | By Marion DS Dreyfus
FR Posted on 9/9/2019, 10:45:29 AM by SeekAndFind

Mark Levin’s hour-long Fox News program, Life, Liberty & Levin, had as his guest an avowed leftist but a rare honest researcher. Dr. Robert Epstein spent the hour describing the constant but usually subtle manipulations indulged in by Google from 2016 to push millions of votes toward HRC, though people were scarcely aware their search results and the “casual” characters generated by search engine inputs tilted them repeatedly to voting for one party over the other (over 3 million votes, Dr. Robert Epstein says). This is being done all the time by Google.

I have suspected this all along, as I have been on focus groups funded by Google and so cognate social media — they know that people no longer trust them. That was the end of Google for me; it is Bing for me from now on. It has been easier to use Google, particularly at work, where I did massive data searches all day long, verifying facts and checking dates and so on. No longer.

Epstein (a strong Hillary-supporter, BTW) is frighteningly full of years of collected research and evidence on voting and election manipulations. It is a miracle — given the info he imparts, which is only part of the bigger picture — that anyone other than HRC could have won, against the strong efforts of the FBI and Justice Dept. to suppress support for anyone other than Mrs. Clinton.

Hand of G-d that she did not win. None of this would have been known had she won. We would have had everything, all the criminals, all the malfeasance, buried forever. No whisper would have emerged.

Research Psychologist: "Google Manipulation shifted some 800,000 to 4.6 million votes in 2018"
GATEWAY PUNDIT ^ | 1/16/2019 | Jim Hoft / FR Posted by bitt

In a previous appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight, Dr Epstein revealed that Google can take a 50-50 split among undecided voters and change it into a 90-10 split with no one knowing they had been manipulated and without leaving a paper trail… It has to do with their search suggestions.

On his latest appearance Dr. Epstein revealed that just one Google shift in search results on Election Day 2018 shifted from 800,000 to 4.6 million votes to Democratic candidates. This follows the shocking Breitbart exposé by Allum Bokhari published Thursday that proves Google has been manipulating search results. Of course the Big Tech companies have been targeting only conservative websites and publications since the 2016 election. Via Tucker Carlson Tonight: (Excerpt) Read more at thegatewaypundit.com ...

SO HOW'D THEY DO THAT? --- (hat tip Trump_the_Evil_Left poster)
<><> Google Manipulation shifted 800,000 to 4.6 million votes in 2018.....
<><> they manipulated users w/ ads and/or search results to promote liberal/Democrat candidates/issues.
<><> they set “algorithms” to the left's get-out-the-vote activities, etc,
<><> they colluded with the left to tip users exclusively toward lib/Democrat potential voters.

========================================

What we have here....just for starters:

A) a huge unreported “contribution in-kind” to the Democrat Party,

B) social media electronic fraud.

The DOJ managed to unbundle Microsoft when it tried to monopolize browsers, email, word processing, etc. with their Windows operating systems. They also broke up AT&T back in the 1980s. Of course, that was when the DOJ behaved like Americans. I have no idea what they’ll do about monopolies now.

Antitrust is the least of the concerns. The typical remedy of breaking such a company into chunks (see Ma Bell) is for the component pieces to maintain just as much share anyway, while enriching its investors.

It is a distraction from the real and very advanced, compromised CIA and foreign influenced censorship, propaganda, surveillance and control operations.

Biden wins and this all goes away. So do you think google will play fair in the next couple of weeks leading up to the election? Hell no, the stakes just went up for them.

Don’t see how Google/Facebook/Twitter can be broken up. It’s their voluntary customer base that makes them dominant over others, not monopolistic practices. Anyone can build a competitor; it’s the “that’s where everyone is” that makes them what they are.

What CAN be done is revisiting §230 categorization: selective weighting of visibility should constitute “publishing” for which they’re actionably liable.

I have no problem with such forums so long as they act as “common carriers”, largely ignoring content by/to voluntary users.

I hate Googe and I never use them as a search engine. I never used Uber or Lyft because a Google g-mail account is required to use those services. Recently I was forced to use Zoom in order to get a job. In order to use Zoom I had to establish a Google g-mail account. Now Google knows my cell phone number and other personal information. What are they going to do to me with the my personal data that they now have? I know it will not be good.

I have moved on from bing to duck after noticing anti Semitic bias in Bings returns while looking for Jihadi memes. Seems only pro muslim memes came up and the obvious ones I was hinting at that matched my terms were buried deeply or missing.

Duck gave me both pro islam and realistic jihadi ones in a logical mix without the obvious social justice biasing.

Bing failed the bing test against duck go, ant anti Semitic is a big red flag with me.

Google excels at technical (computer) searches.

The other engines just don’t have the chops.

I hate Google but they help me make money.
