The White House has blocked new Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines that would have likely prevented a vaccine from being approved before next month’s presidential election, the New York Times and the Associated Press reported, citing Trump administration officials.
The FDA had proposed stricter guidelines for the emergency approval and release of a coronavirus vaccine.
One such requirement involved following vaccine trial candidates for two months to ensure there were no side effects and that the vaccines provided lasting protection from the virus.
FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn has previously said that scientists, not politicians, will decide whether the vaccines work and are safe. …

If a vaccine had been created and were already distributed, I think it would have been a game changer. Too late to do anything on the vaccine front before the election.
Yeah, sure ... that will make things right ... make them "safe" (my God how I have come to hate that word).
There will be just as many "experts" saying the vaccine is "safe" as there will be "experts" who will be saying "we're all gonna die! Die dead, I tell ya!"
These "experts" are scientists alright, "political scientists". It will be politics that decides this no matter what this unelected bureaucrat says ... or thinks. Now for anyone who still thinks this Covid Cootie/lockdown debacle is still about "public health" rather than "politics", well, there are still a few bridges to sell in empty Manhattan.

But I suspect this is just one in a long list of directives intended to stop FDA and CDC bureaucrats from sabotage.
It shouldn’t take two months to determine whether there are reactions to a vaccine. Two weeks maybe.

Because most people see it as necessary to getting back to normal. I think “normal” sounds pretty good to most folks after the year we’ve had - with a successful vaccine & distribution the masks, distancing and shutdowns end.

The EU has a serious mad-on for Trump.
The FDA has rules in place for emergency use authorizations for new medicines. Those rules have been in place for decades. Now, all of a sudden, in an election year pandemic, right before the election, the FDA decides that the rules governing the emergency use of a vaccine that’s going to be a key political issue in that election must immediately change?
Why didn’t those rules change a year ago? Or 6 months ago? Or 5 years ago? They must - absolutely - be changed RIGHT NOW?

Couldn’t agree more! The vaccine approval announcement is MASSIVE. It takes the Democrats’ months-long campaign of fearmongering about COVID-19 and flips it on its head as President Trump emerges as the hero who saved us all from it.
Obviously the reality is things were never nearly as dire as the Democrats claimed, but the narrative remains. They created it. President Trump is leading us back to normalcy. And once people see the end is near for the pandemic, their attention will shift to the economy and who they want steering public policy on that. Spoiler alert: Slow Biden is NOT the man for the job.
