This is a silly formulation by Politico of a much more fundamental truth: people are concerned with the ongoing and very well publicized violence whose perpetrators burn and loot buildings, accost restaurant diners physically and verbally, and invade people’s homes. There is nothing in the least political with that concern. Nobody I know on the right is planning on hunting down political opponents in the streets if the election goes sour for them. People I have observed on the left are already committing these acts whether the election goes sour for them or not - they intend to do it even if they win. Anyone who could fail to be concerned about such matters should have his or her head examined.
