Indie Nidel also did a week-by-week series on World War I that’s worth looking at as well. Lot’s of stuff covered on fronts usually ignored by U.S. histories.
Great series. The level of detail covered is outstanding and the fact that the whole thing is covered in a linear sequence rather than being broken up from one front to the next gives you a great overview of how events in one theater affected events in other theaters.
Japan was not fighting trying to defeat the Soviet Union. Japan and the USSR had a neutrality pact that kept them from fighting each other until mid 1945, when the USSR saw the opportunity to let the treaty lapse and go for a land grab..
I can’t take 5 years to see how it ends.
So what happens? Who wins?
