Emboldened by the lack of consequences, the political left in this country has escalated from yelling at people in restaurants, to physical assaults, property destruction, and even murder. Senator Rand Pauls account of the harrowing events of the leftist mob following the last night of the Republican convention serves as another reminder for Americans to consider their personal safety.
Self-defense is often an uncomfortable topic for many. A friend recently asked what he should do in a circumstance if he and his wife were accosted in public. Setting aside the grief that this is even a topic in our country, he referred to his own health issues as an impediment to self-defense. My response was, the question needs to be asked and answered long before any altercation.
What are you prepared to do?

If while in an urban area (which I have no plans to ever visit again), a mob approaches our vehicle, the decision is already made. The vehicle becomes the instrument of self-defense and the mob endures the consequences. When the choice is to trust ones vehicle versus the benevolence of a mob, the car wins every time. Being pulled from a vehicle could be a death sentence for either of both of us, so one prepares for the worst. Preparation always beats luck.

You could be stopped by hundreds who know they probably won’t be charged no matter what they do.
In ‘prepper literature’ WROL (Without the Rule Of Law) has been a thing for years, although its usgae has kinda declined. TEOTWAWKI , now politely called The New Normal ;-) has also declined in usage.
But WROL is a thing.
Thanks for posting this.
No law without order ... no freedom without law. It’ ain’t rocket science.

“The mind is the weapon. Everything else is accessories.”
Be willing to use your “weapon” when you need to.
Learn the laws surrounding the use of deadly force in your state — PERIOD. Most clearly discuss situations associated with automobile scenarios. In FL they are clearly specified.
Too many laws, or the unequal application of those laws, destroys freedom...
Your mileage may vary...
Yes. Your vehicle is a certain instrument of defense. I would also recommend a carry weapon and a couple magazines ready to swap out if necessary. I carry 2 pistols and 2 additional magazines for each one.
I too only go into the city a couple of times a year. I have no plans to do so normally unless work takes me there. As a business owner Ive chosen my territory and am kept busy enough to not need business in the urban areas.
In many localities, those “laws” are specifically designed to protect the criminal... not the victim.

While I agree with Tuco’s statement, the meme is composited wrong :) That picture appears to be from the graveyard scene and he said the words in the bathtub scene. Sorry, one of my favorite movies and I’m a nitpicky nerd about it :).
This is a key consideration too many people new to the idea of self-defense (particularly firearms for self defense) fail to take into account. You have to be clear and committed to knowing what circumstances you are willing to begin taking "active measures" for your self defense.
Sure, we all practice good op-sec - stay alert and aware of our surroundings, exit routes, who/what is nearby, how many... You're not walking around with your head buried in your phone, or even worse, headphones in and tuned out to your surroundings....right?
But you have got to know ahead of time under what general circumstances and maybe even a few very specific edge cases - when you would employ deadly force. When will you draw your firearm? When will you go to escape mode where traffic laws, the well-being of your vehicle, and the safety of those who would stop you no longer matter? If it comes to a fight, are you prepared to strike genitalia, eye-gouge, throat-punch - blows intended to end the fight quickly but that might have long-term even deadly consequences? It gets real personal, real fast. When it is life and death, there is no such thing as a "fair fight." You fight to win, period.
The fact that you consider these kinds of things ahead of time does not make you bloodthirsty, does not mean you're out looking for a fight. It means you are prepared to live another day and ensure your loved ones and even innocent bystanders live to see another day.
Step one, put truck in 4WD. Step two, immediately leave the area. Always have pepper spray, hand gun, defensive walking cane and rifle in the truck so I respond appropriately to various levels of threat.
LOL, I was thinking the same thing. And I don’t like those Mexican beer commercials that use the music from the Tuco graveyard scene.
My mother became fearless as she aged.
My friend in DC has a traffic app on his cell phone.
Get the book A Failure of Civility. It helped our planning immensely.
