It may look like Play-Doh. But it's actually a 3D-printed steak.
It's made by the Israeli alternative-meat startup Redefine Meat, and the technology behind it is one of many contenders in today's sizzling-hot international race to capitalize on the growing faux-meat market.
Redefine Meat isn't focusing on alternatives to ground beef or sausages, but whole-cut steaks an area of the market that has yet to hit the mainstream.
"There is an amazing industry of alternative meat that is focused on minced meat. And actually the meat industry is driven by the whole-muscle cuts," CEO Eshchar Ben-Shitrit told Reuters. "Steaks, roast, slow cooking, grilling everything that an animal can do we want to do the same or even better."
Ben-Shitrit is focused on creating industrial-level 3D printers that would ultimately be sold to meat distributors around the globe and become part of the meat supply chain.

No. Never.
Steak. It’s what’s for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. I have an upright freezer dedicated to quality cuts of meat. Every piece 3D printed by the cow that gave birth to it. Not by some machine in a lab.
[It may look like Play-Doh. But it’s actually a 3D-printed steak.]
Mmmmmmm. Delicious Play-Doh steak!
It’s times like this that I’m thankful for my cattle ranching buddy.
All of which begs the question: Why? If you dont buy the BS about climate change in particular, why would you want fake meat when you can have the real thing
The CEO’s name doesn’t really help matters if you’re already a sceptic; Mr. Ben Shitrit. Yes. That IS his name.
If it’s not available in geeen or yellow, I’m not buying.
How much toner do you need?
It took some hunting in the article but I found It! What this fake meat is made of!
“Redefine Meat’s recipe contains soy and pea proteins, coconut fat, and sunflower oil, among other ingredients. Though the full list is secret, the company says all ingredients are plant-based and vegan.”
Ever wonder why fake meat is made to taste like meat instead of the vegan slop they want to foist off on us? Ever see any real meat made to taste like Brussels sprouts or soy?
If I want the taste of MEAT, I will eat MEAT!
And we have been warned about eating “highly processed foods!”
Is not fake meat a highly processed food?
“There is an amazing industry of alternative meat”, ah no, there is not!
I boycott any place that gets involved with this slop.
But I do have a question since this is an Israeli company, would “Printed” or “Lab grown” Pork be Kosher?
If you dont want to eat meat why would you wanted eat something that resembles it in taste. Wouldnt that be like fantasizing you ARE eating it?
Does this mean vegetarians get to eat meat, Hindus beef, Jews and Muslims pork?
Oh. I thought it would be actual animal proteins and fats, synthesized and extruded.
Never mind.
Ben-Shitrit. As that he actual name? Sounds like what would happen if you ate his 3D plant fake meat.
A vegan steak. I’ll pass. I will give vat-grown meat a try when it’s market ready - it could eventually ensure that everyone gets incredible cuts of real meat at cheap prices. But vegan steak - I’m not a vegan, and even if I were, why would I want a fake steak?
“But I do have a question since this is an Israeli company, would Printed or Lab grown Pork be Kosher?”
I’m guessing, since the cell line originated from an actual pig, no.
