By this point, it’s pretty clear that one of the best things we can do to protect ourselves and others from the coronavirus is wearing face masks whenever we’re out in public. But it’s important to remember that this disease is still new, and scientists are still learning about it. And now, the CDC has updated its face mask recommendations, warning people that masks that have built in valves or vents aren’t actually effective in helping slow the spread of the virus.
One extremely popular model of mask that has a built-in valve is made by 3M. Its high-tech appearance makes it a type of mask many people have been choosing to wear as they go about their daily business. But this kind of mask is actually meant for construction workers to wear in hot and dusty environments. When it comes to slowing viral particles when the wearer exhales them? It doesn’t actually work for that.
A brochure on 3M’s website illustrates how these types of masks actually work — by allowing hot, humid air to escape through the valve.
“The purpose of masks is to keep respiratory droplets from reaching others to aid with source control,” the CDC’s new guidance reads. However, masks with one-way valves or vents allow air to be exhaled through a hole in the material, which can result in expelled respiratory droplets that can reach others. This type of mask does not prevent the person wearing the mask from transmitting COVID-19 to others. Therefore, CDC does not recommend using masks for source control if they have an exhalation valve or vent.”

Dopey libs could compare/contrast the P95 to the crap most folks wear, and realize their masks have zero efficacy.

Uh...No. No, it’s not clear at all. This is nothing more than a sheeple response to the government overreach we are tolerating, every day.
There are equally compelling arguments to drop this farcical scamdemic manipulation of the American people. There are tests and demonstrations pointing to the utter failure of these masks as any sort of real protection from this virus with a lethality less than the seasonal flu, and fewer than 10% of the ‘positive’ tests requiring any sort of medical intervention.
While I am pro mask, those masks that are open all around defeat the purpose.
I especially hate the Amazon commercial with the Asian woman wearing a mask on the tippy tip of her nose with her nostrils exposes.
What’s the point of news people pulling their masks off to speak to the camera? Then there’s all the touching touching with germy hands.
What’s the point of wearing masks on your chin and off your nose? The gaters are all kinds of stupid pulling them up and down and the possibly infected outter infected side constantly touching the side you pull up to your mouth. It’s like people intentionally go out of their way to purposefully find every way to mess up a simple device.
The doctor they saw had the mask down under his nose! My wife was about to say something, but didn’t. Fricken idiots!
I’m pro mask, but if others don’t want to wear them that is fine. My wife thinks this covid thing is all political but wears a mask as she cares for elderly people.

Look up an N99 mask, then get back with me.
N99 WITH the vent had higher filtering than N95 and much higher than the cheap masks the bank gives you.
The vent is OUTSIDE of the filter.
So wear your ineffective mask and you’ll be protected from me.

While you’re looking up mask knowledge, look what is medically considered an effective mask and clothing boundary for viruses. Wear that. Because is the only thing that filters viruses. You won’t like what you would have to wear to be factually protected and will rapidly learn why this fake mask garbage is exactly that.
NOBODY is wearing the right kind of mask to actually protect themselves from the extremely tiny particle size of a virus. It’s a joke.
Then you take your flimsy mask off and what...re-use it, handle it, many times. Complete and utter fail. Protects you from no virus at all. But it makes you feel like you’re “doing something”, because some expert on the tv told you so and because you’re socially acceptable shamed for not following the other lemmings.
Science shows us what this mask nonsense is...

But a handkerchief, scarf, or dirty sock? TOTALLY effective.
That is fine if they park their car out in the sun for a couple weeks to kill off the virus before getting in again. It is not fine if they jump in and out of their closed up car every other hour and run the a/c.
Question:
What about hearing disabled folks that don’t know sign language, and must lip-read in order to understand what is being said?
There are masks with clear areas at the mouth, but it fogs up....

Ah, here we go again. You’re fine with the no shirt, no shoes, no service rule but you can’t handle a little mask. Fine, fine, that’s a sore spot for you so when was the last time you wandered through the cereal aisle without shoes?
Agreed. I don't agree with the agencies, I'm just saying what they are telling us.
There must come a time (and soon) where we the people say;
“ENOUGH”
This applies to the riots, the taxes, the quarantine, the corruption, the communist insurgency...all of it. ENOUGH
If 60% said;”we will not comply” we could be free. But to many are brainwashed with clear propaganda.
3% were angry about a tax on a breakfast beverage as the spark that freed them.
...and the descendents of these brave men and women wear muzzles today.
I wear the vented N95s because 1) I’m high risk, and 2) I can’t breath with the non filtered type. I havent tried putting a light cloth one over it, but I may.
