Seven people were killed, including Alaska state lawmaker Gary Knopp (R), after two small planes crashed into each other mid-air early Friday morning while flying over the Kenai Peninsula, south of Anchorage, Alaska.

Seems to me like a lot of their people are being arrested, and a lot of our people are dying from one thing or another.

There are outliers. Was Epstein one of theirs, or, as a witness, one of ours?

I was in a small plane once. I had taken a three-day course on parachute jumping. I was attempting to cure my acrophobia.
I was so scared that I waited for the LAST of our class. But, there was an odd number so I in the next class--ADVANCED jumpers. I was to jump at 1,800 feet.
The plane went up to 10,000 feet.
So, the hot shot parachuters jumped and we descended DOWN to 1,800 feet again for my jump. I put my left foot out on the strut, right leg dangling and held on to the wing of the plane. I was told "JUMP!"
I couldn't jump so I just LET GO and down I went. The instructor said that I had a big smile on my face and was WHITE as a ghost from terror.

The free fall was six seconds and in those six seconds my mind had gone BLANK. If I had fallen to the ground I wouldn't have known it.
Then the chute opened; I spun round and round; got hold of the straps for direction and steadied my descent.

I landed on my feet and fell back on my butt. I rolled up the chute and waited for the truck to pick me up.

I lost my fear of heights. After all these decades I still have no fear of heights.

It worked!

I am ashamed of myself for hoping Lisa Murkowski was on the plane.

Alaska has more small plane accidents than the entire rest of the country. Sometimes an accident is just and accident.

I’ve been on commuter shuttle flights RT Anchorage to Homer. Pretty scenic over the Kenai Peninsula. Sorry to hear about this crash. Wouldn’t seem like there’s too much air traffic congestion over there.

I am ashamed of myself for hoping Lisa Murkowski was on the plane.

The legislator who died was a total RINO that immediately defected to the Rats after the 2016 election with three other RINOs, putting the Rats in charge of the House, even though there was a Republican majority on paper.

What was that Indian tribe that worked on many skyscrapers and had absolutely no fear?

“Wouldn’t seem like there’s too much air traffic congestion over there.”

Surprisingly there are six other airports in the area. Kenai Municipal is the only one with an active tower. Others are Island Lake Seaplane Base in Nikiski, Mackey’s Lake Seaplane Base just east of Ridgway, two in Soldotna with the hospital strip and the Soldotna Airport, and the southern most with the Kasilnof Airport just north of the city.

Being you are a frequent flyer in the Homer area, a little south and west of the Kenai, but in the sticks, you are aware that there are a number of unlicensed pilots all over Alaska. It’s a necessity for many up there as roads are almost non-existent except for the major cities like Anchorage and Fairbanks and between. (If it wasn’t for the Alcan no one would drive anywhere)

So air traffic in areas like the Kenai are not unusual in Alaska with all kinds of capabilities behind the stick and doing maintenance on their aircraft. I’m sure if you check the NTSB report of many of them you’ll find the “pilot” was unlicensed.

I was stationed at Galena for a year back in 1984-5. The airport at Galena had all kinds of private aircraft on it. But when the word got out the FAA was coming in to inspect, they all disappeared up to the Campion Strip, closed, about 5 miles east and were covered up to not be seen by air. It was a semi graded trail to get up there so the FAA didn’t try. Just in that area alone we probably had a couple of hundred “bush” pilots self taught or taught by other “bush” pilot friends. And as everyone knew everyone, things were overlooked as the rental money for tie down changed hands.

In Alaska a lot of towns are only accessible by air or water. People have to fly in small planes way more often than in any other state.

Large amount of small plane traffic due to limited roads and great distances. Unpredictable weather over hugh mountains and fog and other atmospheric conditions.
