William Emmett LeCroy - looks like his crime was in Georgia

Christopher Andre Vialva - looks like his crime was in Texas

Why the hell are the feds involved? Where is the constitutional justification for federal involvement?

One of them killed the victims on federal property. That’s an easy one.

The other crossed state lines and tried to flee to another country and was arrested by the Border Patrol. I believe that makes is a federal crime as well.

Murder is Murder. Where it happens is suddenly important? The annual cost for incarcerating one person in prison is nearly $40,000. Are you happy to be paying that?

The Portland rioters are going to find out that they weren't actually in the city of Portland when they committed their rioting crimes - even though they thought they were.

They were in Federal jurisdiction - which is a Whole Nother Country.

They should have paid attention in American Government class...

"William Emmett LeCroy - looks like his crime was in Georgia"

LeCroy committed the murder AND transported a stolen car across state lines in the process of that murder.. That qualifies him for federal murder charges.

"Christopher Andre Vialva - looks like his crime was in Texas"

He committed HIS murders on a military reservation. Again, the Feds have jurisdiction.

It would have been the same as if it was on an Indian reservation. FBI investigates, the case goes to the Feds. The Devil can be in the details.

The lesson here is if you are going to burn two Christian missionaries to death, don't do it on Federal property. Stay on the other side of the fence. If he had stayed in Texas, he would already be pushing up weeds.

*************

I think that the states rely on the Feds for Execution
of the prisoners when required.

You kill someone at a post office in MN (no death penalty) you are subject to Federal prosecution and the needle.

I know of a case in Southern MO many years ago where the guy made a point of killing his wife in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, thus avoiding the chance of getting the death penalty in MO. At the time, the Feds weren’t doing executions.

The two in Texas was kidnapping, federal and the other was international flight to avoid prosecution.

The second one is because the actual murder happened on a military base. That makes it federal business.

Marvin Charles Gabrion is also on the federal execution list for the same reason. He murdered Rachel Timmerman in the Huron–Manistee National Forests so the fed got first crack at him.

Hopefully Gabrion can be forced to tell what he did with Shannon Timmerman, Rachel's 18 month old daughter who is still missing.
