The European Commission has signed a contract with US pharmaceutical giant Gilead, securing 30,000 doses of the COVID-19 drug remdesivir for EU member states and Britain.

Remdesivir is the first drug that received EU approval to treat severe cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

The €63-million ($74-million) contract will be paid for with an emergency instrument from the European Union’s shared budget, the EU’s executive body announced on Wednesday.

Stella Kyriakides, EU Commissioner for health, called this move “another important step forward in our fight to overcome this disease”, and said the contract between the commission and company had been signed on Monday. …

I wonder if Remdesivir treatment for advanced Covid would work even better with HCQ and zinc included. Of course, it would be cheaper, and probably a lot better, to use the HCQ and zinc for early Covid. I read elsewhere that S. Korea plans 5 studies. Three will use Remdesivir and two will use HCQ and the HIV antiviral Kaletra. They did not have a link for the treatment dose and protocols.

Over a thousand bucks a pop to be politically correct instead of just cured.

Good for them....now, let’s make HCQ readily available or OTC, here.

It’s for the all-important “Elites”, I’m sure.

If so, I hope it doesn’t work. Europe will be better off.

Here's the cha-CHING that Fauxi and his buddies were angling for:

$2500 a dose.

Same hydroxychloroquine course of treatment (at $12 for a 5-day course):

$360,000.

versus $74,000,000...

Actuaally, Dr. Zelenko has increased his cost figure to $20 recently. THe $12 figure was back in March before people had heard about his work. Last month I Googled prices for his 3 part treatment and estimated $20 a 5 day treatment. Of course actually buying the bottles would cost more, but then you would have plenty to share with family and friends. I used drug prices at GoodRx I found estimates on Remdesivir ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 with price not yet established. In S. Korea Kaletra was used in place of Zinc, but it is also relatively low cost which is probably why S. Korea is starting 5 studies using Remdesivir or HCQ and Kaletra.

If you are actually in Israel, can you try to find out how Dr. Z is after his surgery Monday a week ago. The only thing I can find is
https://techstartups.com/2020/07/22/dr-vladimir-zelenko-jewish-doctor-treated-coronavirus-patients-using-hydroxychloroquine-zinc-undergoing-surgery-also-releases-new-book-coronavirus-treatment-launches-new-webs/
I don’t know if this is a legitimate site. When I clicked the blue line about Dr. Z’s new website, it gave a lot of technical device info. Then I tried to ask the on-line chat feature for the results of the doctor’s surgery and all it did was talk about computers and wanted to charge me a dollar. After that I was afraid to click the part about getting his new book FREE. Does he even have a new book?

I didn't include the Z-Pak or the zinc when I spit-balled the $12.

Interesting about the Kaletra.

Glad that the stock that I have held for 10 years will get some movement in share price.

I was chatting with a pharmacist about 6 weeks ago who works in a very gay area. He said there had been a lot of request for or information about HCQ, Kaletra, and zinc. He was out of zinc which was the only non prescription item. I have also read that SK used zinc with HCQ, but have NOT found an article on line. Remember that Quercetin can be used in place of HCQ and you don’t need a prescription.
