Cities have a high crime rate. You can find low crime areas of Florida, just like you can find low crime areas in New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

The perception of wealth, along with it being there, is credited to the large amount of retirees in St. Pete. I.E. out of state money coming in from all over. It is also a high drug state.

So the need for money is a real problem for buyers and users. Home invasion is normally the easiest way to get cash, if it is better planned, and is the safest way to get goods to sell for worth. And Pasco is a tough area. Not real surprised it happened there.
