Seattle police union leader: 'Socialist' city council holding 'reasonable majority' hostage

"Socialists" on Seattle's City Council are holding a "reasonable majority" of residents hostage by threatening to slash police spending by 50 percent, a union leader said Saturday.

"It's absolutely a travesty," said Seattle Police Officers Guild President Michael Solan, appearing on "Fox & Friends Weekend."

Solan warned that the defund police push in Seattle is "leading the way in how public safety will be conducted from this day forward" nationwide.

"If our reasonable community across this city, our state, and more importantly, our nation don't wake up ... crime will rise significantly, and over half, if not more, of the police jobs in our city will be eviscerated," Solan said.

"This is coming into your neighborhood if we don't wake up and stop this socialist threat immediately."

I respectfully disagree with Solan. Seattle’s problem is that a “reasonable majority” on election day showed up at the polls and elected marxists, socialist’s and communists to Lead their city.

The “reasonable majority” got exactly what they voted for, and they will likely continue to vote for the same rubbish. They are like addicts who cannot stop using drugs even though they know the drugs are killing them.

If people do not come out in November and vote GOP/Trump in mass amounts then they deserve what they get. This has been an eye opening time for those that have been blind to the wiles of the democrats...VOTE THEM ALL OUT, every democrat!

Civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy. The savage’s whole existence is public, ruled by the laws of his tribe. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men.

The precondition of a civilized society is the barring of physical force from social relationships—thus establishing the principle that if men wish to deal with one another, they may do so only by means of reason: by discussion, persuasion and voluntary, uncoerced agreement.

The necessary consequence of man’s right to life is his right to self-defense. In a civilized society, force may be used only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use.

Elections have consequences... The Seattle PD was bought by the Communists, and the union still gets paid by them. If the membership doesn't like it, there are greener pastures.

Here is the problem: A lot of people, me included, are still on the fence about defunding the police.
I have yet to hear about the solution for the badge heavy 'roided goons on the SWAT units, with their MRAPS and No-Knock warrants. Hint: The War on Some Drugs is a MASSIVE FAILURE! You LOST!
The mayor's brother-in-law still drives away from a DUI stop. Equal enforcement, although unpopular with the local power structures, buys a lot of support.
What about the "civil forfeiture" highway robbers, that support themselves with pillaging out-of-state travelers?
Speed/stop light camera companies, who tinker with yellow light timing and who split half the loot with the cop shops?

Most of all, the Police took an oath to the Constitution, and some seem to have forgotten it, or slide current political considerations in front of Upholding the Law.

Every other public union strikes, and demands excessive wages. The PD gets the money, but seems to forget about arm-twisting the mayors about the rest.

The policy is intended to create more lawlessness. More lawlessness is a feature not a bug.

The issue is never the issue, the issue is always the revolution.

If “Seattle is Dying” is any indicator, that will be hard; like NJ, Seattle has a dwindling number of middle class Americans to push back.

27% of the eligible voters in Seattle voted in the last election.

We will find out if there is a silent majority of sanity in Seattle.

People from the reasonable majority need to go and kill this council.
That is the only thing that will stop the madness.

Yet somehow it will never occur to ANY Police Union to announce that they will proactively weed out bad officers to prevent them from throwing the entire country into a crisis.

It is not the job of any union to weed out bad employees, it is the unions job to represent all employees not just the good ones. This includes Teachers, Cops, Autoworkers and many more.

The only solution to remedy this is to abolish all unions, good luck with that.

Violence and destabilizing communities is an old commie tactic. Do you think democrat mayors were unaware of the effect burning, looting and murder would have on their cities?

Of course they knew. Their choice - to keep the chaos going - was intentional.

They short staffed cops - putting them in danger - handed them directions that made them appear powerless. The cops easily could have to a stop to the mess.

Weeding out bad public employees does represent all employees, including the bad ones.

If you’re a bad cop, you’re in the wrong line of work. You are a danger to yourself and others, physically, or financially, or both. You make everyone, including yourself, suffer through a horrible relationship with the public.

If you’re a bad teacher, you’re in the wrong line of work. Your students will be more likely to commit crimes, including assaulting you or your colleagues. You also make the good teachers waste their time fixing your mistakes.

Autoworkers are private sector, they can have whatever moronic arrangements they want with the employer.
