Across America, protesters and city leaders are removing monuments of Confederate soldiers.
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is home to more than 40 Confederate monuments. The park is roughly 6,000 acres, attracting nearly a million visitors each year.
Are the Confederate monuments educational or do they glorify slavery? It depends on who you ask.

These Aholes can’t even let the dead rest. I pray that we are victorious in this fight against evil.
Well, one day these Union guys showed up, and I guess they started fighting themselves, because I see a lot of monuments to dead Union guys, but there is no record of any other army being here at all ...
the elevator speech version.
What do we learn from the confederate monuments? We learn about america. We learn about Antifa and Conservatives. The question becomes which side will win this time.
Southern historians are ever so silent. I know a few given my time teaching in academia and I ride their arses as hard and as often as possible. Frakin’ tards.
“Are the Confederate monuments educational or do they glorify slavery?”
Actually, it takes a complete idiot to think they do. Slavery is one concept, valor and sacrifice defending your loved ones on the field of battle is another concept, but the ignorant loons among us now conflate the two concepts.
I feel confident in saying that slavery never entered the minds of any general or any soldier as they faced the enemy.
The Civil War is the saddest epoch in American history. I only see American boys fighting each other, and slavery, for or against, never entered the minds of any soldier that fought at Gettysburg. It takes a special kind of stupid to think Union soldiers were saying to themselves “ok boys, here’s where we end slavery once and for all!” . Even more ridiculous to think of the confederate soldiers saying “ok men, hooray for slavery! Charge!!” .
“I feel confident in saying that slavery never entered the minds of any general or any soldier as they faced the enemy.”
Ditto that...on both sides!
As Shelby Foote would have said, “The Civil War made the United States an “is” instead of an “are”
Any removal of the monuments would require Congress to act . . . or a senile old man in our White House and his controllers looking away while the mobs destroy as they look away in leftist cities.
This purge of everything and anything related to the Confederacy is disgusting. Are there any Southern partisans left? If so, why aren’t we hearing them speaking up and speaking out?
“Are the Confederate monuments educational or do they glorify slavery? It depends on who you ask.”
NO IT DOESN’T. FACTS are FACTS.
They ARE “educational”, They ARE “historical”.
Unless, of course, you are Joe Biden “ “we choose about truth, not facts,””
Maybe you “meant” to say “we CARE about truth, not facts,”
In either case you are a brain addled MORON!
What is a synonym for addled?

This purge of reality by leftist nitwits must be resisted if we are to survive as a free society. So many are so frightened and quiet. Screw the left. Screw them all.
The main purpose of the markers on the battlefield is to note the locations of the units of both armies at various phases of the battle. Since unites tended to fight in blocks, placement of an identifying marker at the center of each units’ position with its left and right limits was possible while they were in living memory.
Of course, when the purpose is wholesale iconoclasm, non e of that matters.
Ive een to Gettysburg several times over the last 30 years. Beleive it when I tell you history has been re written over and over and over and its now a place for BLM and snowflakes to celebrate the great victory of the union.
I’ve read a lot of original letters from CSA soldiers to home and I don’t recall one letter where slavery was mentioned.
Our cultural enemy is infantile.
Slavery Is the lowest common denominator. But then, we have not educated people capable of rising any higher in their thoughts.
Guess you need to go again.
There are many monuments to confederate units and individuals. And they should remain as part of our history
