One of the signatories of an open letter against cancel culture has recanted her support of the initiative.
Around 150 writers, academics and activists signed a pice published by Harper's Magazine in which they denounce the "restriction of debate." ....
Author Jennifer Finney Boylan has recanted her support of the letter, saying she wasn't aware of who else had signed the letter.
Finney Boylan tweeted: "I did not know who else had signed that letter. I thought I was endorsing a well meaning, if vague, message against internet shaming. I did know Chomsky, Steinem, and Atwood were in, and I thought, good company."

JK Rowling has more balls than the GOP.
Freaking hilarious, isn’t it? In that psychotic way of Leftists, I mean.
It’s a guy pretending to be a woman. Get the language correct and don’t forget people like this have a mental disease. You cannot change your sex. Ask “her” if she still has “her” plumbing. That should be an interesting response.
And, of course, one trannys change of heart is newsworthy in the eyes of Newsweek.
This sorry creature is confused about a lot more than its gender.
I thought Finney was the author of transmission repair manuals.
So if I understand this correctly, this author signed this letter because he or she thought it was a well-meaning message.
And he or she felt comfortable that some people she apparently admires also signed on for that message.
But then he or she rescinded support upon learning that JK Rowling had also signed on to this.
The message of the letter did not change because JK Rowling signed on to it.
This author is an idiot. The positive message he or she wanted to be a part of is still a positive message, even if people she does not personally approve of agree with her.
What am I missing?
is this the one that was fired?
“This author is an idiot. The positive message he or she wanted to be a part of is still a positive message, even if people she does not personally approve of agree with her.
“What am I missing?”
Not a thing.
The message is improved by the absence of “her” signature.
“I didn’t read it before I signed it, but I saw some of the cool kids signed it.”
Trans Author? Is that a fake author?
“I wish to cancel my support of a message not supporting the message of cancel culture because someone I wish to cancel supports the message.”
Men pretending to be women should never be taken seriously.
Boylan? Shouldn't that be Girlan? Or the more generic "Freakshow"?
So Trump should say he is voting for
Biden?
The letter isn’t the only thing he recanted.
I’ve moved on to just using the term “female impersonator” for any male who seeks to be seen as a woman. Whether they only dress up on weekends on the low end ... or if they live it 24/7 take hormones and cut things off, it’s still just a male impersonating a female.
Just different degrees of commitment to the impersonation.
