Mayor Michael P. Cahill, in a statement shared on Facebook Tuesday afternoon, said that while much work is already being done to build a welcoming, supportive community for all, the actions that took place in Beverly Farms over the weekend highlighted there are still many more miles to travel.
We all understand that this years Beverly Farms 4th of July parade was rightly cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, he shared. Even so, a group held their own parade. In doing so, some groups crossed the line of decency and basic kindness. One group displayed a sign targeting two private individuals and by extension their families with a message of hate. Another group displayed a racist sign that sought to scapegoat an entire group of people.
Cahill also shared that the parade committee had sent out an email endorsing and celebrating those actions, further highlighting the racist attack by posting a picture of the sign in the email.
This is all completely wrong and unacceptable, and things have to change, he continued. We cannot watch this overt bullying and racism and be silent. Beverly is a great community, and we all have work to do still. Condemning these actions is part of this work.

It looks like politically incorrect humor and mocking of locals is part of the tradition.
The article doesn’t tell what was said that was so terrible.
Maybe this?
Did the good citizens criticize Governor Charlie Parker?
“Hate” is what the mass media does to white people 24/7.
How dare anyone dissent? :-(
They really hate Free Speech.
It has been bad enough that a lot of news has devolved into ‘someone said something dumb’ or ‘someone said something offensive’ but now it is ‘someone said someone else said something dumb’ and ‘someone said someone else said something offensive’ with scant more detail.
The mayor’s comments proved the protesters’ point. Lol. Clueless commielib.
So, I see signs that slam Trump and other signs that slam censoring speech. Which side promoted this? It looks like both sides were skewered some, and isnt that what this parade is about?
“Horribles” appear to be “Deplorables” taken to the next level.
Need more of them, IMO.
Thanks.
I don’t really get where they’re coming from on the “Putin” sign or the others in that photo.
I was initially taken aback by that one as well. I think it may be a parody, poking fun at the 'fake news' media and all of their Trump / Putin conspiracy theories. (?)
Thanks; I had posted article but forgot to put link in.I did add it but the thread was pulled.
I saw a pic online that showed someone with a gorilla head and a sign: Gorilla Lives Matter. Also a sign saying “Male, female, whatever—just wash your hands, please.” I thought it was from this yr but it was from ‘16 maybe—there was a transgender bathroom controversy.
In past years
Hillary Clinton impostor in orange prison
jumpsuit
“Snake oil salesman” (patent medicines) promoring an elixer to “Make Your Body Great Again”..
One woman from Gloucester I believe complained about the parade some years ago
and there were floats making fun of her.
Lt Gov Kerry Healey, Mitt Romney’s running made (RINO— both refused a salary during his one term) lived in Beverly and I saw her around my polling place (not running
that time).
So a sign said “Billionaires For Kerry Healey”
Post 8 had the sign I mentioned.
Someone on a Beverly Facebook group complained about this parade. One response:
“Well I wasn’t crazy about the BLM parade
around the city which many people endorsed, and snarled traffic. That organization is Marxist.”
That parade was not like the protests that
had buildings looted and set on fire or
statues pulled down. Just a march.
First week of June I was in Valley Forge/
Phil. area.Admittedly many historic sites
were closed due to the virus but I
had no intention of going to them because
of rioting.(This week I did briefly go there. For now Valley Forge park is mostly
open for outdoor stuff—and the statue of George Washington
in front of Independence Hall in Philly is still
there.Guarded by cops.)
During that first week of June the only
protest I saw in King of Prussia was a couple people with Black Lives Matter
signs in front of a Wells Fargo Bank.
Peaceful and non violent.
There had been looting at King of
Prussia mall the day before, though.)
