CARLSBAD, N.M. - Recently released videos from a body-camera worn by a National Park Ranger at Carlsbad Caverns National Park reveals the park visitor who he tased, then shot and killed did not provoke the use of force and was unarmed.
Charles “Gage” Lorentz was traveling from his work site in Pecos, Texas on March 21. 2020 intending to head to his family’s home in Southwest Colorado. A report from the Eddy County Sheriff’s Department noted that he detoured at Carlsbad Caverns National Park to meet a friend. The report states National Park Ranger Robert Mitchell stopped him for speeding on a dirt road near the Rattlesnake Springs area of the park.
The lapel video shows Ranger Mitchell ordered Lorentz to spread his feet and move closer to a railing. Lorentz is seen complying with those orders. But when the ranger orders Lorentz to turn around, Lorentz is seen in the video not complying and dancing to nearby music playing from someone’s vehicle. Ranger Mitchell commanded Lorentz to take his hands out of his pockets, and without warning or an announcement that force will be used; Ranger Mitchell deployed his Taser at Lorentz.
The video abruptly ends when the Taser is deployed. Twenty-six seconds of the video is missing, but when the video resumes, the video shows Ranger Mitchell on top of Lorentz. That’s when the ranger shot him twice with his service gun.

ANYTIME video is cut like that.....tells me something is wrong and wrong on the actions of the LEO.
I don’t care if the LEO is male, female, human or from Mars. Missing video will always get a ‘Guilty’ vote in the jury room from me.

Well as long as we're on humor ... I had a funny thing happen today. I bought a Garden Weasel at Lowes ... one of those things you push into the dirt and roll and it cultivates the soil - needed to loosen up some soil that I'm grass-seeding.
It's made by a company called ... Corona. Which I thought was kind of funny because it's another company that probably has to change it's name -> like Corona beer. The tagline under the 'Corona' packaging label was "Season after Season!" which was really a blow upon bruise.
You make good points in your post #26. Why did this guy behave so dangerously around the Ranger? He apparently was looking for trouble. The Ranger had reason to fear the man, because why else would he tell him to turn around. The guy’s behavior is just bizarre.

At least for the same reason you do. Being law enforcement, do you really have to ask these days?
My local PD “5150’s” people all the time...(psych hold). They also have a device called a “wrap” (sort of a straight jacket) and tasers, no police shootings in decades (except a fleeing armed bank robber about 20 years ago who survived after taking a shot at the cops from a getaway vehicle). It is all about the training and evals..
Gage definitely had an attitude. When the ranger pulled the taser, Gage taunted the ranger to pull his firearm. The ranger declined. Pretty much suicide by ranger.
For all those who don't know, there is an intelligence operation flooding this site with posts designed to foster several narratives. One is that whites are under siege by blacks. This will focus you on the blacks as your problem, and you will not ask who ran Jeffrey Epstein, who tried to install Hillary Clinton, who deployed America's intelligence agencies against Donald Trump, and who has been stealing trillions from our nation. Hint - it is not the blacks. Another is if you protect yourself legally you will go to prison. Another is even conservatives think Police need to be thrown in prison. The goal of these narratives, which are being fostered on multiple sites, is to foster chaos and reduce Donald Trump's chances of reelection.
These narratives are being pushed by an intelligence operation which appears to be foreign-originating, which has penetrated the US government, the media, and even civilian society, and promoted its agents to positions of power.
I will try to shut all these threads down when I see them, and dissuade posting here by jumping into all of these threads I see, and publicizing the part of the intelligence machine they have assembled which the leaders do not want anyone aware of. I have seen all of this firsthand, so I am not just extrapolating things that could be.
That is the massive civilian informant network they have assembled. I will begin with the TIPS program, which was an official move by their network to get the civilian informant network out from the shadows. It failed, but the network is still there, and from my firsthand observations, it is probably around six to eight percent of the population who have decided it is easier to go with the program than to stand against it. I suspect many of these protests are a majority of the network, deployed to create the impression of chaos.
For now we will just move on to this Youtube video, which shows just one regular citizen who saw the targeting of her by the covert informant/surveillance program. Many here are under this, even if they do not know. A network like this has been built in every suburban neighborhood, to get a rough idea of who all the residents are. The network is watching.
As I see more posts fostering these false narratives, I will reveal more about the network. You can screw up this country, but there are those who will resist.
MOST of those guys are youngish, earning money they'd've never seen coming out of high school, and the they work DAMNED long and many hours FOR it.
A LOT of guys get to go home once every two or three weeks and I perceive, by the news announcer, this guy is one of them
Charles “Gage” Lorentz exhibits all the signs of a relatively rich young kid/man travelling through "familiar" territory, (unlike me, a former city guy who'd stick out like a sore thumb) and the smirk on his demeanor is "what the hell does Cletus want with me ?
Ranger Mitchell appears to have forged his last physical and by MY reasoning, Gage is about an hour into a 10 hour drive home and the video SEEMS to indicate relative morning time ... om March 21, which was a Saturday morning.
I'm guessing Gage had Colorado plates, was headed north towards home and was probably happier n'SHIT to have some time off with a pocket full of money.

It's an American attribute, especially if you're innocent of wrong doing, to treat with a modicum of disrespect a fat cop that seems to need a quota filled.

The "turn around" command is SUPPOSED to be accompanied by "I'm placing you under arrest for ... "

The rest is history, but the ranger must take more than half the blame here.

Sure, I bet that is what the police officer did. He just wanted to shoot somebody! You are really sick. When you get stopped by a police officer, you are not on equal footing with the officer. You are required to obey the officers lawful instructions. We live in a civilized society. It’s called “the rule of law.” Perhaps you want to live like a savage, but normal Americans want law and order. Don’t fight the cops and you won’t get shot.
Because there are enough people out there who commit violent crimes in national parks that well harm or kill them.
