American travelers look set to be denied entry to the EU when the bloc reopens its borders on July 1st, according to reports, while those from Australia and New Zealand will likely to be allowed to return.
Europe will reopen its external borders on July 1st but American tourists may not be allowed to travel because the US is still considered a risk due to the high number of COVID-19 cases.
Hard-hit countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Russia and India are also facing a continued travel ban.
EU officials are reportedly frantically drawing up a list of countries whose nationals will be allowed to travel to the EU, when borders reopen on July 1st as well as a list of countries where restrictions will remain in place.
While the final lists have not been published or even set in stone, the New York Times reports that it has seen two draft versions with the US placed on the banned lists.
However, one EU diplomat told Reuters news agency: Theres no list (of countries); just a list of criteria.

Two can play at that game.
We were scheduled for Aruba in April. We are now re-scheduled for September but we may cancel because they require a Covid test that passes within 72 hours of arrival or you stay in your room for your 1st 24 hours. Screw that.
The timing of getting the test results will be difficult and I am NOT going there so I can hang out in a hotel room. We’re waiting to see if they change the rules.
“American travelers look set to be denied entry to the EU...”
Count that as a BLESSING. Probably save many lives.
Perfect-we’ll keep our ‘Yankee dollars’ HERE!
I’m sure thy won’t be needed or missed (sarc)
of course, ChiCom tourists welcome.
I put that in italics due to it being fake news.
And that’s the source of that virus. So claiming that they may ban US tourists due to virus cases is a lie.
Business owners will start screaming when American Tourist dollars are shut off.
Should be fun to watch.
Fine. No American dollars will be spent in Europe. Sounds good for American businesses.
Right-European Tourism has been hurting anyway.
Who wants to spend thousands to visit Paris and watch immigrants crap on the street?
We can go see THAT in San Fran, and save the money :)
Fortunately, I have no need to go there. :)
Rick Steves deeply saddened (which actually might be the best part).
Close our borders to all for the rest of the year.
Two did. Trump banned travel from Europe early in the Covid crisis.
Trump did it for health reasons. They’ll do it because they’re petulant children.
We had to "flatten the curve" !
I had to look up Rick Steves. Sounds like a real piece of leftist work.
Screw the EU.
