Sanofi eyes approval of COVID-19 vaccine by first half of 2021

French drugmaker Sanofi SA said on Tuesday it expects to get approval for the potential COVID-19 vaccine it is developing with Britain’s GlaxoSmithKline Plc by the first half of next year, faster than previously anticipated.

Sanofi, which is hosting a virtual research and development event, and GSK had said in April the vaccine, if successful, would be available in the second half of 2021.

“We are being guided by our dialogue with regulatory authorities,” Sanofi research chief John Reed told reporters, when asked about the accelerated time frame.

There are currently no vaccines to prevent the coronavirus that has infected more than 9 million people and killed over 469,000 globally, and only a couple of medicines that have demonstrated benefit in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in clinical trials.

Many drugmakers are racing to come up with a safe and effective vaccine that can be produced at large scale.

Moderna Inc, the University of Oxford in collaboration with AstraZeneca Plc, and an alliance of BioNTech and Pfizer Inc grabbed headlines by moving to human trials as early as March.

Sanofi Chief Executive Paul Hudson said the firsts in the race now were not assured of securing victory.

“There are companies moving faster, but let us be brutally clear, speed has three downsides,” he said of competition.

“They are using existing work, in many cases done for SARS; it is likely not to be as efficacious; and there is no guarantee on supply in large volumes,” Hudson said.

The probability of success for Sanofi is “higher than anybody else,” the CEO said.

Not only am I not ever going to get this vaccine, I'm now more suspicious of all other vaccines.

Let the guinea pigs line up first and see how many side-effects there are from unnecessary vaccines forced through a system led by politically motivated hacks.

Yes. It's a matter of time before all of us who venture outside our houses are exposed to the virus - we can either be exposed to it by some random infected stranger at the local Costco, or we can be exposed to it through a relentlessly tested vaccine. I'll go with the vaccine.

At this point, I wouldn't mind getting a full-blown case of COVID-19 just to get it over with and have the anti-bodies.

I am very allergic to many foods, fungas, mold and pollen as well, but if I can take a vaccine I do. I had to get a lot of diseases the old fashioned way that put me in hospital and wished I could take the vaccines. Unlike others on this db who want to slam medicine, including vaccines and love to tell the stories of what can go wrong, I am a big supporter of vaccines that are carefully tested and have a very low percentage of complications. My hope is if people like me get the vaccine, it will help to lower the risk for people who cannot (or do not wish to take the vaccine) but who have lower immunity.

Leronlimab is an AIDS drug

The effects of COVID-19 are similar to HIV in that it attacks the auto immune system in humans who are most effects due to their already weak immune system

It’s also has a great test record of getting those who are already close to death back to health. Leronlimab is the best candidate for a vaccine

If you are into buying stock, the stock is expected to hit over $10.00 per share by late Summer

If their trials keep showing progress this stock could be pure Gold

I sure pray for it, so we can heal all get this country back to work to stop the left before they shut down the country during the election com November

I am also partial to this because I lost over $100,000 from the stock market crash and my stocks have not recovered but CYDY is the lone bright spot in my otherwise screwed portfolio

Can’t sell or I lose permanently on most my stocks. So all I can do is hold onto my down stocks and pray that Leronlimab is the magic pill that takes out Covid-19

If President Trump takes it, I’ll have no reservations about it. If he says no way, that would make me wary of it. But he’s been pushing very hard to make a safe and effective vaccine a reality.
