Dang...no “like” button, I agree. WAY over rated. Simple three chord crap, terrible monotone voice, and he looks JUST like the homeless loser begging by the freeway. Yeeech.
As part of that generation (I think Cobain was about a year older than me) I fully agree.
The alternative music explosion that happened between '87 and '92 was such a breath of fresh air, some of the best rock music ever, yet even at the time, I never cared much for Nirvana. I always liked Pearl Jam better, to say the same for Smashing Pumkins, Soundgarden, and Janes Addiciton. All better bands than Nirvana.
Cobain's drug-addled tabloid antics and his grisly suicide cemented his stature ensuring the myth outwighed the reality (I would say the same for Jim Morrison).
As a guitar palyer, it is bittersweet to see this instrument outsell Gilmour's Stratocaster, a far more important instrument in the annals of rock. Just wait until Jimmy Page's #1 '59 Les Paul hits the auction house. Wouldn't be surprised to see it sell for 10 times that money this one brought in.
