A Russian cargo carrier has proven once and for all that pigs do fly. More than 3,000 happy hogs have earned their wings, traveling a mile high between Europe and China onboard a Boeing 747 operated by Volga Dnepr.
A pig-culiar problem The Chinese are lacking in pigs. You could say theyre squealing out for swine after an outbreak of African swine fever obliterated the nations herds of hogs. First detected in August 2018, the deadly disease has decimated the pig population by around 50%.
China loves pigs, but not for their superior land clearing abilities or cute curly tails. The country is, in fact, both the worlds biggest producer and, simultaneously, its biggest importer of pork meat. The Chinese eat an average of 30kg of pork a year per person, twice as much as the UK.
To be clear, these pigs arent destined for slaughter, not initially at least. Theyll be sent to pastures in the hope of happy breeding and repopulation of the local supply.

China is the country that really needs to push ahead with the development of fake meat.
If they don’t have enough genetic diversity, they could be right back where they started from if another Swine disease pops up...................

They need more government officials?
“This plane smells like pig-S$$t.”
China is starving for pigs and our hog farmers are killing their pigs because they can’t get them to market? WTF (waste to farmers)?
Chinese apologists are claiming their pig and chicken shortages are caused by virus-spreading drones from the U.S.
The hard part is to maintain proper social distancing during the flights.
The piglets refuse to keep their little masks on!
Now imagine someone has to wash the plane.
Geez, I worked as hog breeder my first job after retiring from the Army... and I didn’t know Pigs could fly!
From what to what?
It never occurred to them to breed the pigs before slaughtering them?
Reminds me of the people in "Idiocracy". They knew to put the seed in the ground but it never occurred to them to water it.
The guy who first thinks of it is hailed as a hero at first but then they eventually try to kill him.
At least that's how I remember the movie.
Only the government couldn’t figure out the answer to that problem
” Chinese eat an average of 30kg of pork a year per person,”
Disgusting! But this explains why the Clintons are good friends of the Chinese.
So many folks have died they need lots of replacement factory workers, and pigs can be trained and demand even less salary than the average Chinese worker
