Carlos Osweda is a FOTW. A fascinating write who has a great perspective on current events and manages to roll in historical anecdotes long forgotten into his commentaries. He does in such as way as to be both gripping and education, and in many cases, full of laughs.

“The French army began a heavy artillery bombardment of Paris, making no distinction between military targets and civilian centers.”

Would we REALLY miss Seattle?

(History is raciss.)

I love the references to "Snake Pliskin" and #razsimone is now trending with some hilarious comments.

#Razsimone twitter link

Some comments:

"Razistan!"

"I for one welcome our new Warlord!"

Loads of inside video there as well.

Wasn’t familiar with the Richard Avedon story. Jeez Louise. And guess what I just found at the Met Museum...

He is not a flavor of the week. He used to write under another name Thomas wictor. I read his stuff first everyday.

Thanks for posting this. I went to the Twitter link and read through the thread. Then I read it with the threader app, which puts all the tweets into a coherent essay form, complete with the photos, etc. And it makes a brilliant historical analysis.

The parallels with our situation are very unnerving. Substitute the three-month global shutdown for the Franco Prussian War as the destabilizing event that permitted chaos and violence to take over, and we can see how we got to this point.

Yes, the Commune did collapse Internally to the point where finally the Army could restore legitimate authority, but it took a lot of deaths and horrible violence and destruction on both sides before this happened. I’d rather not go through that...
