I agree. A fentanyl overdose and heart attack is a bad way to go.

Private property rights are NOT a “privilege”, it is a guarantee in our constitution.

Period.

“Social justice” does not trump the constitution.

This is the most absurd argument imaginable. I don’t envy the position the Sheriff is in because he may have state constitutional obligations to enforce the law within his own county. Typically, when a municipality disbands their own police they rely on the county government for law enforcement.

I am not sure how/why the democrats believe this is going to be a good issue for them. It will be a disaster of epic proportions, which is why they likely will not do it. Good luck getting anyone to work as an officer in Minneapolis after this so their crime rate will inevitably skyrocket with less enforcement.

Modern America is proof that a small group of people, in collaboration with the media, can yell loud enough to enforce their will over the silent objections of the majority. However, that does not translate to the ballot box. This is political suicide.

While there are abuses on the part of some cops, and always will be, you cannot be a cop if your city doesn’t have your back. Which means, being given the benefit of the doubt when situations are in the grey zone.

Obviously, too much and too automatic a “benefit-of-doubt” can be used by bad cops, but not enough leads to passive, absent, even corrupt cops. You can’t do the job without your chain of command and the city itself backing you up.

I understand and support his position.

I don’t support his decision in a vacuum...

But I FULLY support his decision based on the actions of the Stupid insane city council.

When it comes to Minneapolis and the stupid Games they are playing, F*** EM!!!!

I will pray for those who suffer there who never wanted this.

The Minneapolis police need to take a week off; call it the blue flu, a strike, whatever. Check back after the week and see if attitudes have changed; if not, tell those who need protection to call their local gang.

“If they choose to eliminate their police department through defunding operations without a realistic plan, they must also choose to live with the consequences of their decisions. "

Considering the neighborhood, the replacement to police will be sharia law, another no-go zone in the US.

Sheriff offices usually have about 350 deputies, and many times much less. City police departments often have as much as 10,000 officers. NO way a sheriff is going to cover for a city.

Hennepin County must not have a Sheriff’s Department? I was kind of surprised to hear Anoka County does, but I guess the northern parts are less metropolitan. At least they were when I lived there.
