CAMEROTA: “What if in the middle of the night my home is broken into. Who do I call?”
BENDER: “Yes, I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors. And I know and myself, too, and I know that that comes from a place of privilege.”

Private property rights are NOT a “privilege”, it is a guarantee in our constitution.
Period.
“Social justice” does not trump the constitution.
This is the most absurd argument imaginable. I don’t envy the position the Sheriff is in because he may have state constitutional obligations to enforce the law within his own county. Typically, when a municipality disbands their own police they rely on the county government for law enforcement.
I am not sure how/why the democrats believe this is going to be a good issue for them. It will be a disaster of epic proportions, which is why they likely will not do it. Good luck getting anyone to work as an officer in Minneapolis after this so their crime rate will inevitably skyrocket with less enforcement.
Modern America is proof that a small group of people, in collaboration with the media, can yell loud enough to enforce their will over the silent objections of the majority. However, that does not translate to the ballot box. This is political suicide.
