I read David McCullough’s biography of Truman. He’s the last Democrat who was respectable and honorable.
Truman came up and out of a very corrupt Kansas City Missouri Rat Machine led by Tom Pendergast. I have always wondered how he stayed “clean”. If he actually did. So far history says he did stay “clean” or maybe historians haven’t bothered to look.
I see a lot of Truman in Trump.
Coincidentally, I’ve been reading volume two of Truman’s memoirs. There is no doubt he was a thoughtful patriot with values, but he did lean toward the left.
