“I don’t think so. A turbine aircraft engine is not that heavy. Batteries are. The aircrafts max weight doesn’t change as that is limited by structural design. So whatever weight goes into batteries comes out of available cargo or passenger weight.”

The magniX motor is slightly less weight compared to the turbine.

The design basis for the conversions is to locate the batteries in the space the removed fuel tanks occupied. Battery capacity (weight) is determined based on the weight of the design fuel capacity.

"You really think it has a 750 watt motor? LOL!"

That's what the article says. LOL

“So that is a 45 minute reserve based on a fuel load in a standard caravan. Doesn’t really apply to a battery charge, or does it?”

The table will, of course, have to be modified as the range will change. But that was not the point of my post.

My post was addressing your statement that the POH max ranges do not include nor should it include FAA required fuel reserves when it clearly does.

Electric motors are also heavy. Windings versus empty combustion chamber

“Electric motors are also heavy. Windings versus empty combustion chamber”

As I stated in a previous post to you, the 750 hp electric motor weighs less than the turbine and reduction gears it replaces.

Do your homework.

Hmmm. I guess I didn't think that one all the way through. Carp. And I thought I just discovered my path to billions.

Ah, well. I guess I'll go back to my work on designing a cell phone with a second port that can charge my laptop. That way, while my laptop is charging my cell phone, my cell phone can charge my laptop. I'll never have to plug either into the wall again.

Dang it! You mean somebody’s already invented something that charges your phone without having to plug it in?

And batteries weigh more than fuel

How many hours do you have? Have many in turbine? How many in jet? How many in combat? I’ve forgotten more than most people will ever know about flying, aircraft, engines, and flight rules. You keep doing homework. I’ve got 41 years on your homework. Have a good day.

I never questioned your flying skills. But I agree you may have forgotten a lot.
