I used to have to dodge them a bit in the Gulf off Stump Pass
I never saw one way out say over 100 miles out
Those boomers coming off Florida in the early evening make em a lot
We saw one at night once in a storm
It was maybe 700 yards off our beam in the Midnight
We hit it with the Q beam
Man amazing to see at night as the squall approached
Ive seen them on large lakes
Some are like small tornados but others are more like big dust devils
My ex wife had a full blown panic attack when I got fairly close to one
Poor thing
Were buddies now cause were old lol
Indeed. I am pretty sure they were angels in disguise. :-)
Indeed. I can still here their voices:
“You shu-ah you OK, Ma’am?”
“You shu-ah you can ride dat ting back home now, Ma’am?”
“we get you goin’ now, no problem.”
Somewhere on YouTube there is a video of a tornado that went through Little Havana, trashed downtown Miami, cut through the highrise office buildings, then exited out over the intercoastal waterway. That makes it a tornado and a waterspout at the same time.
The coolest thing is to watch this tornado, that is black, turn completely white when it hits the water.
