Illinois Governor Pritzker’s emergency rule change locks down the state for 150 days...
EDGAR COUNTY WATCHDOGS ^ | 5/16/2020 | KIRK ALLEN

Posted on 05/17/2020 2:39:34 PM PDT by Beave Meister

It appears the Governor is realizing his Executive Orders are not laws and they violate people’s Constitutional rights.

What is the norm in Illinois when elected officials get exposed for violating the law? Change the law.

In this case, change the rules and make criminals out of the very people that are the economic engine in this state.

Not only do these new suggested rules invoke criminal penalties, but they also are to last 150 days and are being pushed through in an Emergency provision for such rule changes, meaning the public has little say about it. Let that sink in. Under these proposed rules it appears the Governor intends to continue with his oppressive overreach and lock this state down into the middle of October.

If approved, the Illinois Department of Public Health would be enacting an Emergency Rule establishing criminal penalties for violating what appears to be Governor Pritzker’s Executive Orders. This action points to his desperation and an admission his EOs had no enforcement power outside of those given in the law, which were limited to the Illinois Emergency Managment Agency. According to the Emergency Rule, violating IDPH rules will constitute a Class A Misdemeanor, which includes a fine and/or imprisonment. County State’s Attorneys will be charged with bringing the charges – but it is already well-established, a State’s Attorney has prosecutorial discretion when it comes to charging someone with a crime. (See section 8.1 of Public Health Act)

One thing we noticed on first reading, is the exemption for Airports and Hospitals having sit-down restaurants. We understand the hospitals, but why is it OK for an airport restaurant to serve sit-down customers, but not OK for any other restaurants in this state to serve sit-down customers? This provision points to a Constitutional issue of discrimination.

Chicago has an ENORMOUS underground economy amongst the blacks, Mexicans, Indians, Koreans etc. No money reported to government and no taxes. More power to them!😃

if the blue state govs really proceed with this kind of draconian, unconstitutional fascism, President Trump’s going to win a victory like nothing seen in modern U.S. history since Franklin Roosevelt’s 1936 victory ...

Thanks for that post, FRiend.

I don’t want to sound like an optimist. But I always try to look at the facts in front of me before indulging in a lot of speculation.

The overwhelming reality just now is that the RAT governors are acting like tyrants and folks are sick of it. People are getting a harsh taste of what it’s like to live under socialism. This isn’t calculated to help the RAT cause.

Meanwhile, the states that are opening up seem to be doing well — media fearmongering to the contrary.

I’m glad you mentioned the 1936 election. The economy was still mired in the Great Depression, but voters didn’t see any good reason to change leadership midstream. Much could be said about the 1940 election.

Yes, there is a hard core of Trump haters who can’t be reached. But the Never Trump “conservatives” are a non-factor and the Trump base seems to understand the tightrope DJT has had to walk through this crisis.

The one thing that worries me is RAT vote fraud. But I can’t see Trump signing any bill that allows expanded mail-in voting.

And, more to the point, we don’t yet know what countermeasures Trump is putting into place against vote fraud. Common sense would indicate that 1.) Trump is fully aware of this problem and 2.) Trump has enough sense to maintain operational security about whatever the appropriate countermeasures might be.

So, don’t look for much news until the time is right.

A lot can happen in nearly six months. And public unrest over the lockdowns may grow geometrically rather than arithmetically. I wouldn’t be surprised if protests and civil disobedience increase exponentially starting later this month.

Thank God I live in Florida.

I haven’t gotten to escape because we can’t afford it. It sucks. This state eats up our incomes through huge taxes, which leads to high rent. Property taxes are absolutely fvcked here.

I don’t want to live here. I’ve been trying to get my husband to save a little extra money for years, but he didn’t take my advice. Now his hours have been cut back, so saving is a literal impossibility at this point.

The only other thing we could do is borrow money from family, but we’re all spread extremely thin. All of us want to leave, but that’s not going to happen now that the real estate market has dropped.

They can get rid of him if they want. And probably will soon. He reminds one of Nicolae Ceaușescu (former Dictator President of Romania) who was removed from office from by the peasants he abused.

California's Newsom has already come out today saying the federal government owes the states to bail them out. Even though they have made bad economic decisions for decades.

This is another reason why the democRATIC governors don't care how bad they damage their state's economies with these severe lockdowns, because they think the feds will bail out all of their bad management decisions in the past.

...probably none left that would even consider “burning the state down”.

Or, perhaps that’s the _only_ ones left.

...“for sale” signs everywhere and it is evidently a statewide thing.

When we were still looking, I would check out the southern portion of WI and Zillow would also return northern IL properties.

It looked like entire towns were for sale and the prices were very low. Taxes: not so much.

Most of the people left there would burn the state own because Popeyes ran out of the new chicken sandwich.

The rest of them, the one's who fled, they are busy in places like where I live, turning it into Chicago.

Governor Pritzker is a democrat! They are trying to keep this going as long as possible to get close to the November election.
