When legislators convened earlier this year, they crafted a budget based on state economists December estimates, which expected revenue of $7.88 billion for fiscal year 2021. That figure could now drop as much as 30 percent to just $5.49 billion.
Its not just next years budget that will take a hit. Revenue for the current period, which ends June 30, could be between $368 million and $483 million short of projections, the economists said.
Thats greater than the $259 million previously estimated to be in the states operating reserve at the end of the period, meaning there will be insufficient funds to cover appropriations unless spending is reduced or the state taps another reserve fund, the document said.

This is what happens when you shoot yourself in the foot. The biggest self inflicted damage in history. We may as well have stuck our hand in a garbage disposal.

This is going on across the country. California went from bragging about a surplus to 53.1 billion deficit. Every town, city and county is going to be in the same shape.

Here in Colorado they’re talking about a 2 or 3 billion dollar shortfall. First thing on the list to cut is services for the elderly. Dumping wuhan flu patients into nursing homes and now cutting funding for seniors. Sure seems like seniors are being targeted. Hmmm.

Maybe here’s my chance to finally own a railroad. I know. It’s just a commuter line, but it should go cheap!

New Mexico already receives more than their fair share of federal funds. Half the state population is on some type of welfare sustenance.
Not one more penny. Let them rot.
