Only Lucas' closest friends would've seen anything of Episode I two years before its release. I'm impressed!
I love movie theaters. It was great fun seeing people get up and cheer during the “Avengers: Endgame” credits that showed the actors’ signatures. I remember fondly the audience’s stunned reaction when Vader made his big reveal in “Empire”.
So movies are no longer shipped to theaters in reals they are transmitted digitally so AMC has a copy of the key that opens the movie so they can pirate movies at the source. Not saying they are but...chinese
I remember seeing Star Wars (and later Empire Strikes Back) many times in the theater in the 70’s. Once or twice from the front row where the star destroyers would just dominate the screen. I can enjoy them at home, but you cant recreate that sensation of the big screen.
Ah, gotcha. China has rampant intellectual property theft and that’s just one of the avenues.
Thanks.
You would be surprised how many people post unverified crap on this forum. I did not have time to check it, but the person after you was kindly enough to furnish the link.
Post of the thread!
btw....you were playing some crazy ball if you were getting to second at the movies!
Movie theaters have neen innovating. You can buy tickets to specific seats on line so no need to wait in line to get best seats. Many more food and drink options. Nicer seats that recline with trays and cupholders. Enforcement of rules to stay quiet.
True, but it is nice to get away from the "basementy" smell and the three inches of water on the cellar floor.
Is the Academy going to tell Universal that their films won’t qualify for Oscar consideration if they go immediately to streaming services?
“not saying they are but..”
OF COURSE THEY ARE..
You are welcome.
not the greatest news....i will never go to one.
We gotta stop selling our country out to these d-bag commies..
Poster said they are now trying to make moves on our Texas oil fields during this crisis.
The selection of seats at online purchase time has been the thing that turned me around (from not going anymore). Now we just plan our arrival for “start” time. We don’t have to get there early to get the best seats, and then get stuck watching 45 minutes of commercials. Now it is “the movie ‘starts’ at 7, we will get there at 7, get to our seats about 10 after, and only have to watch one or two commercials.”
That, and the local $5 tuesdays. . .
I made it to home base once back in the late 80’s.
Far back corner of the theater.
I believe the movie was “Heathers”.
Something I've noticed for the last few years is the tailgating. A LOT of people buy tickets, take their Winnebagos wrapped in school colors, park outside, set up grills, have drinks in coolers and the game broadcasting on a humongous flat screen mounted on the side of the Winnebago. They spend all that money and never go in the stadium. It doesn't make sense to me, but apparently the game atmosphere of visiting with fans going by and hearing the crowd live while watching on TV beats the real game experience.
I’ve been to more than a few concerts and sports events where i was having such a good time in the parking lot i did not want to go into the show.
Jimmy Buffet concerts come to mind.
Seems i would also like to relax in my beach chair and watch the game on a giant tv. free booze, steak tips cooking on the grill surrounded by the exiting atmosphere...
On a side note you wouldn’t happen to be looking for an a apprentice would you?
You know someone to lug your equipment around, setting up stuff, hanging out with you on the sidelines...
PM me if your interested.....i work cheap...free actually with expenses paid.
:)
Yep
Chinese owned, blows 900% profit margins, over-leveraged, and now cuts off it's own supply chain.
I haven’t been to the movies since moving to Baltimore. The nearest theater is an AMC, about 15-20 minutes drive away. If it’s like the one in Queens I occasionally went to, it has those reclining seats you have to reserve in advance. I found it skin-crawlingly repulsive to have to sit reclined next to some strange man, almost as close as if he were sharing a bed with me. That, and the very high price were two excellent reasons for me to avoid that theater. Oh, and the movies were either stupid, dirty, or both. Great way to save $16 a pop!
