People who work for a living aren’t ever ‘non-essential’
Boston Herald ^ | 4/25/20 | Howie Carr

Who the hell are these politicians to imperiously decide who’s “essential” and who’s not?

Non-essential, they hiss, pointing a finger at you. Non-essential!

If you’re non-essential, these tinpot dictators with their catastrophically wrong “models” tell you, stay home. Lose your job, your business, your life. What the hell do they care?

You’ll take it and you’ll like it! Nicht wahr? As certain Germans used to say. Isn’t that so? Jawohl!

They’ve got theirs, Jack. And it comes with State Police chauffeurs. They’re just trying to do the Reich, I mean right thing.

At long last, finally, working people are starting to push back at these damn-fool silver-spoon politicians who are gleefully destroying the economy for… what, exactly?

I saw a quote the other day from a woman with a “non-essential” small business:

“I’m not afraid of losing my life, I’m afraid of losing the life I built.”

What?
A touch of logic?
From a Boston newspaper?
In the People’s Republic of Taxachusetts?
That elected brainless dorks such as Dead Ted, Kerry and Fauxanauntis?
Nope, cannot be.
Those people never will again rise to the greatness they possessed centuries ago, so why pretend that they have any balls left?

I think with the rate of real news I think”journalist” should only be allowed to work one day a week during this crisis. I wonder how their perspective would change.

According to the head cheese at the u.n. only ‘green jobs’ are needed/essential going forward. I expect to see a LOT of resignation letters pretty soon.

The only “non-essentials” I can think of are politicians! And they’re the ones who are destroying our economy! Talk about irony!

Non-essentials: Feeling like non-persons as these shut downs drag out.

Every time I hear the phrase I think of that scene....what a powerful movie and what a powerful reminder of what governments are capable of....

Not so, grasshopper. Remember when the federal government couldn't pass a budget, relied on continuing resolutions to fund the government, and those instances where disagreement led to a "government shutdown"? During those shutdowns, "NON-ESSENTIAL" federal government employees were furloughed. Did "non-essential" state government employees get laid off during the coronavirus-related state shutdowns? No. And now you will see states petitioning the federal government for bailouts.

They mean you’re non-essential to them.

You may be essential to you, but that’s not their problem.

Bump.

“Flatten the curve” has become libspeak for “I promise I’ll only put the head of it in.”

The “curve” has been “flattened”. The emergency health care system is not at risk, especially outside of third world blue dumps like New York. Time to man up and deal with it. The virus isn’t going to go away. We’re only delaying the inevitable at this point. And no economy, no health care, period.

This crap has to end?

Outside Performing Arts Center in Sandy Springs GA
the sign praising HEROES can only mean that Sandy Springs equates performing artists with Hospital workers, paramedics, firemen and police men as HEROES.

I object to that. Performing artist is a respectable profession. But they are not heroes and should not pretend to appropriate the honor deserving of true heroes.

You're non-essential because your governor says you're non-essential (recalling that line in "Donnie Brasco" delivered by Al Pacino to Johnny Depp after killing a "rat" in the crew)
