Keto diet is best way to combat the flu image The flu season is upon usand the ketogenic diet is the best way to tackle it. The high-fat, low-carbs diet helps the immune system combat the virus, new research has discovered.
The diet activates a sub-set of T cells in the lungs that trap the virus and stops it spreading. The discovery is something of a scientific first because the T cells, known as gamma delta, hadn't been thought to be part of the immune system's response to influenza.
Researchers from Yale University made the discovery when they fed two dietsthe keto and a high-carb dietto laboratory mice who were then infected with the influenza virus. Those on the keto diet had a higher survival rate because it triggered the release of the gamma delta cells, while the standard high-carb diet didn't have the same protective effect.
The release of the T cells must have something to do with the way the body burns fat, said lead researcher Visha Dixit.
The keto diet includes meat, fish, poultry and non-starchy vegetables.

And beer...
Might work until we run out of meat from all the packing plants closing.
“Might work until we run out of meat from all the packing plants closing.”
I’m hoarding squirrels in the back yard for that situation.
She ilives in the South and I'm up here in the cold, rainy North...have not seen her since Thanksgiving....
She was a miracle baby and came after 14 years of trying, but before her we were blessed and very fortunate to get a son through adoption...so I've been very BLESSED...BOTH WERE GREAT KIDS AND SO EASY TO RAISE...
And tomorrow they’ll say the exact opposite.
I read an article on the internet (you know it has to be true) that taking Viagra would protect you from the flu.
*Note only for four hours, after that see your doctor.
Think I’ll get some cheap whole peanuts and fatten up my squirrels.
I bet fishing will soon become much more popular and crawlers will become scarce. Any takers?
They are exploring Viagra, and for related reasons, Nitrous Oxide (Like dentists use). But you could try the supplementing with L-Arginine and L-Citrulline to increase Nitric oxide in your blood.
Grape seed extract does that, too.
Is a Slim Jim meat? Asking for a friend.
I think it is nitric oxide.
Resveratrol; the active ingredient in this and red wine does boost the immune system. How much probably depends on the individual but it could make the difference between getting the virus and not feeling it or getting it and needing the 3 drug cocktail talked about here.
I’ve been doing the intermittent fasting and down 27 in 9 weeks...working out again also. Never felt better health wise and physically. Mainly trying a keto type diet when I do eat...glad to hear this.
For other health reasons I’ve been on a meat and fat only diet for about 4 years now. The 7 years leading up to that I ate increasingly keto. I haven’t had as much as a case of sniffles for as long as I can remember. I used to catch colds and flu regularly.
I’ve been taking L-Arginine and Citrulline for several years-it makes my workouts more effective and helps maintain muscle mass and tone-I have a physical job so that is important since I’m female and not very big-if the stuff improves immunity, then that is even better...

Polyphenols like resveratrol are both a blessing and a curse. They cause autoimmune responses in me and many other people. Other notorious polyphenols include lutein, zeaxanthin and the dye in turmeric.

For me, L-Arginine is magic before a workout. 1/2 tsp chugged with water. I bought the powder in bulk. It tastes like, well, fish butt lol.
