Thank you for posting this, Saint X, and for the ping, Chode...:)
I just finished an excellent book “Sink Them All” by Admiral Charles Lockwood, who was in charge of US submarine forces in the Pacific...I admit, I have always thought the image of a submarine coming into Pearl Harbor after a long, dangerous, and successful war patrol with the broom tied to the mast was one of the most interesting “Victory Marking”...:)

Coast Guard Academy across the river and subvets bar where I drank my dolphins. That area was really great. Mystic with Whaling history and such. Even got to NYC when the Twin Towers were still up. Very interesting bump.
Were you there before towed array or after. Benny Sucks didnt have it when Ivan pulled a crazy Ivan out of our baffles and scared the shit outa him and us in the Straights of Gibraltar. Ivan and us played the game. Squids did back then.
Now, that’s living history!
Argh! The throat clearers!
Went to crypto school, eh? Well, it takes all kinds to serve, no doubt there. I wouldn’t have wanted to do that, but some people do.
Interesting anecdote, and...thanks for your service.
Your freep handle now makes more sense to me...:)
