Coronavirus Bill Vs Massie KY

Posted on 03/27/2020 7:08:27 AM PDT by LowNslow

Media and Congress have bowels in up roar over Republican Rep Massie may force members of congress to return to Washington for a vote on the Coronavirus bill. The Garbage men are still doing they jobs, young teens are working the Grocery checkout for less than $15.00 an hour. But Congress earning $178,000 a year is afraid of the big bad virus to do their constitutional job to show up and vote.

Constitution requires a quorum for members to pass a bill, not 2 or 3 people yelling Yah then claiming the bill passed by a quorum majority.

Do your job you were elected to do.

It is a grandstanding that benefits no one other than his ego. The bill will pass, and the only result would be to besmirch the Republicans reputation.

He needs to keep his mouth shut until after the money is sent out. Then he can bring up the constitutionality of the law before all the non virus stuff kicks in.

Where was the house speaker who should have been aware of the rules and made sure they were being followed.

Are the congress members essentially admitting they are not an “essential” operation?

This grandstanding accomplishes nothing except for taking away the Republican position that it was the Democrats that delayed the releasing of the virus aid. It will still pass, and the Democrats will use this to blame the delay on the Republicans.

There is a time and place for everything. Unfortunately, there are lousy parts of this legislation. There are in every piece that this Pelosi-led Congress looks at.

This hurts Trump by association. What a jerk to not walk in step with the President at this time.

There are Republicans who are laid off right now who voted for Trump and plan to vote for him in November. Why hurt those poor people?

Oh please.

A massive deficit spending bill chock full of progressive changes to our society.

IT SHOULD BE ON THE RECORD.

The rules are the rules.

I have no problem with this. If Reps can’t do their jobs, they should resign. Let the chips fall. Then maybe we can elect a real leader.

Voice vote for something like this is inadequate. The names and votes should be "on the record".

That way, when all this settles, questions like "why did you approve funding for items that had nothing to do with the intended purpose of the bill?:

Well Trump is wrong.
I support Massie and he not evem my congressman
Rules need to be followed and people held accountable. To hell with “art of the deal”. Sometimes no deal is the best deal you can make.

Republicans fold too soon and apologize too much.

House rules should be eased to allow electronic voting on this bill only.

There is a great risk to many people by making Congressmen go thru airports, etc and potentially bring in the virus for hot zones. Let Massie come in and make a floor speech and go on the record if he is that concerned.

Every day delayed means thousands more will lose jobs.

Trump is right to light him up.

Because he’s a “Principled Conservative”. If his donors had anything coming their way in the legislation he wouldn’t be doing this.

Massie is right but it’s madness to fight in an unwinnable war. Make your point as loud as you can and live to fight another day.
