The one-finger salute is just rude.
= = = = = = = = = =
Rather than the one finger salute, fold your pinky beneath your thumb and tell all to read between the lines.
That is a little more polite.
Also, extend your arm and curl all but middle finger down and say ‘This is for your horse’

I found Spock to be pretentious. So Im going with the Mr. Bean hand wave.

Nah, everybody should to this, in greeting and meeting. Do it backwards when saying goodbye -

Poorly coordinated and left handed me can do the Vulcan greeting with both hands.

I thought my Mr. Bean greeting couldnt be beat. I was wrong.
On a related note, sometimes my liberal acquaintances will try to draw me into a political discussion. I tell them that I am a Marxist. A Groucho Marxist.

Oh no.
In Vulcan, if you do both hands at once it means,
Dont look now, but theres a Klingon in your shorts.

Don’t know if Spock knew it or not, but that “blessing” made by a priest’s hands he remembers, was Kabbalistic. Kabbalah is occultic. Not the kind of “blessing” you would want.
To: Nateman
From what I remember from a temple open house when the Spock greeting was mentioned, the rabbi or other designated speaker elaborated.
Spock’s fingers were closed. The traditional way had the fingers slightly soread. Something to do with blessing people.
Again this is from a guy who caught a short lecture.

I use the Spock greeting a lot anyway, especially at the office.
Nobody watches my old TV shows, movies, or listens to OTR. I reference stuff from them all the time. It’s entertainment to me.
A few now understand Sgt.Shultze.

Groucho's movements and dances always entertained me. Like this one, which would make a heckuva greeting too!

I was traveling with my Son and a rerun of The Wild Wild West came on the tv.
I told him I hoped it was an episode with Dr Miguelito Loveless.
It was.
Hes a fan now.
RIP Robert Conrad.

To keep it real, what does one say when one gives the sign of the priestly blessing?

Yep.
I first listened to Classic Radio back in the 70s.
I really enjoyed Edgar Bergen and Jack Benny.

XM 148 is main reason I keep XM on.
The historical based shows and oddball terms I never heard I read up on. Same with the real crime shows like Gangbusters. There was a most wanted at the end of some. Sometimes I can find something on the baddie.
