Before he was handed 23 years in prison, Harvey Weinstein begged for a light sentence on Wednesday, telling the court he was going through “hell on earth” and was “really trying to be a better person.”

Admitting he was the spark for the whole #MeToo movement, Weinstein said he was just one of many men “totally confused” by the complaints against them — saying he even wanted to open a specialist clinic for men who had been accused.
“I really feel remorse for this situation. I feel it deeply in my heart,” he said in Manhattan Supreme Court.
“I’m really trying to be a better person.”

I find it sickening that grown women who put themselves in a situation to be raped by a man to advance their careers (and then stay silent for years) can exact a 23-year sentence, but when little children are raped by adults, the perps are given a few months, suspended sentences, or a few years. Which victim group is hurt more by rape?
If the US is a patriarchy then how did a jury with 7 men on it vote to convict? Why didn’t the male Judge let him off lightly? I thought women were all oppressed.
