Extreme blasts of freezing weather hitting Europe and the USA in recent years aren’t caused by a warming Arctic changing the jet stream, as previously thought.
Research by the University of Exeter disputes earlier studies suggesting a warming Arctic was creating a “wavier” jet stream and linked to climate change.

They actually think? I thought they were simple programmed to 'feel' these things and ignore the fact that the sun is so large it could contain 1.3 million earths (so a quick Google pointed out) and the sun is the number one influence on our weather and climate.
I always say (to myself most of the time), the weather is like a woman. Unpredictable.
I’m tired of winter. Definitely ready for spring.
It seems the arctic cold has decided to spend more time up north this season. Normal weather fluctuations, nothing more. It’s certainly expanding the arctic sea ice extent.

Where is this “extreme blast”? Winter hasn’t really hit here in North Idaho even though we’ve had 55 inches of snow. Only a couple nights around 10 - 15. Last three weeks daytime highs have been 38 - 45 - real balmy!

My wife has been complaining how warm it is in the Bay Area. She came up here to our Idaho house to get some cooler weather! (I’m continuing remodeling projects on the Idaho house while she still works in CA)
