VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- Georgia authorities have arrested 14 Lowndes County men who are accused of communicating with children online and then traveling to meet them for sex.
Among those charged is Keith Walters, dean of the College of Science & Mathematics at Valdosta State University.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the arrests are the result of a four-day undercover investigation planned for months and coordinated between nearly 20 agencies.
GBI says all of the suspects, ranging from 24 to 57 years old, traveled from areas around South Georgia with the intent to meet children for sex.
While the suspects believed they were communicating with a minor online, they were in fact talking to undercover investigators.
In some cases, investigators say, the suspects also sent obscene or lewd content, or requested pornographic images from the undercover investigators posing as children.
About half of the exchanges involved websites used for dating, socializing, or even ones used for classified advertisements.
Valdosta State sent the following statement to WCTV:

Who does he think he is? A Hollywood exec?
Looks like they are targeting people of “color”
RACISTS!
Well, we sure got diversity.
Oh dear. I expect we’re going to get a new round of “we need to have a conversation about whether child sex trafficking is really a crime” naval gazing.
We should ask Whoopie.
I am trying to understand, how is this sex trafficking?
Wasn’t this just called pedophilia or child exploitation a few years ago?
I thought sex trafficking was pimping, prostitution, or sex slavery, usually a man, who traffic women from area to area selling/advertising them for sex, generally against their will. I seen these busts posted every so often, few times they have found missing/abducted women this way.
I am no way saying these guys didn’t do anything wrong, they sure did, but it just seems like the term Sex trafficking just means anything these days.
I grew up in Valdosta. Home of Moody AFB. My dad was Professor Emeritus of Education at Valdosta State. This was way before the hippies and SJWs took over. For those who don’t know, Valdosta is a stone’s throw from Florida, on I-75.
Forgot to say, I haven’t been back there in a very long time.
The guy in the top row fifth picture from the left looks like his head “accidentally” ran into a wall during his apprehension and arrest.
Although these are run of the mill criminals that deserve 1 round each, the dean should get 2 to the knee caps and allowed to bleed out.
What’s really going on in our colleges and Universities? This is the result of immoral democrats elevated to positions where they feel empowered and “above the law”.
Seems like there are many reports of arrests of these kinds of rings lately. Is it just more coverage, or did someone pick up the pace of investigations a while back?
Oh, he was there just for....um.....research!
Yeah, research.
I mean, this is science, right? Right?
What a disgusting gallery.
The only way this can be dealt with is to execute both parties — the customer as well as the trafficker. If there is no more supply, the demand will wither on the vine.
Let’s look at the bright side here.
This reflects the racial progress that has been made in South Georgia since the 1960s. 8 Blacks, 5 Whites, 1 Mexican. Let’s all sing Kum ba Ya.
You grew up in Valdosta? If you were in city school did you know Coach Nick Hyder? He was my Geometry teacher at West Rome before he moved to Valdosta High.
I remember the name. Don’t think I met him.
Moody at that time had Phantoms, and one of their flight paths was right over my house. Saw them every day. Now they have A-10s.
