Best Foreign film AND Best Picture? That’s gotta be a first. Question is how can that even happen?

Oscars 2020: 'Parasite' wins four awards, including best picture

The acclaimed South Korean black comedy "Parasite" won four honors at the 92nd Academy Awards, including becoming the first film not in the English language to win best picture. The movie also won best international film as well as original screenplay and best director for Bong Joon-ho.

The acting categories were less of a surprise, as it featured the four thespians who ran roughshod over their competition all awards season. Joaquin Phoenix won best actor for "Joker," Renee Zellweger took best actress for "Judy," Laura Dern was named best supporting actress for "Marriage Story," and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" thespian Brad Pitt snagged best supporting actor.

Zellweger really deserves it for “Judy.” An amazing and very historically accurate depiction of Judy Garland toward the end of her life. Any Freepers who haven’t seen it should see it.

I’m just glad that the appalling “Two Popes” was shut out.

Just read the description for parasite on wikipedia.

Poor family infiltrates rich families household as posers. Hilarity ensues and then they’re found out and some members of the poor family stab the father of the rich family to death.

It’s considered a “smart” picture about the evils of capitalism.

Critics find it ... refreshing.

I almost died laughing watching Joaquin Phoenix’s speech. I can’t believe how far gone the left is.

Buttigieg demonstrating, yet again, a near magical ability to appear as if he’s saying something profound while actually saying nothing at all. His ability to bullshit people is peerless. No one bullshits like Pete, no one. 👇🏻 https://t.co/gNrRMffIGY— Dan Bongino (@dbongino) February 10, 2020

Congratulations to all of tonight's #Oscars nominees. Great films allow us to momentarily inhabit the lives and the hearts and the challenges of another person. That matters. And that's why I'm glad to see Hair Love, Little Women, and For Sama included among this year's nominees.— Pete Buttigieg (@PeteButtigieg) February 10, 2020

I saw Parasite and I did enjoy it. I also saw “Created Equal”: a documentary about Clearance Thomas in his own words. Created Equal was much better.

I think Phonix has won one every best actor award so far this year. It must have been one helluva performance.

Hollywood is crap. Everything is a remake, and bad remakes at that. You want to watch a good original film, you need to watch something from Korea or China.

I never even heard of it but I love Judy Garland’s singing. I’ll be sure to watch the movie. Thanks for the tip.

Korean films have been of very high caliber in general. But there is a new wave of young filmmakers also taking the torch. Some films particularly in the past two decades are too dark for my tastes, but others including some now are so emotionally profound and superb in their aesthetic craftsmanship.

I bet China’s industry would be exemplary too if it didn’t have such a horrible, censoring government.

The role was an actor’s dream. But he was in every scene. It was all about him. Heath Ledger was better.
