It's a statement that's as predictable as it is infuriating: President Donald Trump's administration lacks diversity.
On Tuesday, Trump tweeted photos of a briefing he'd received on the new coronavirus spreading out of China.
"We will continue to monitor the ongoing developments," the President said in his post. "We have the best experts anywhere in the world, and they are on top of it 24/7!"
Who are these experts? They're largely the same sorts of white men (and a couple women on the sidelines) who've dominated the Trump administration from the very beginning.
By contrast, former President Barack Obama's circle of advisers in the face of the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa was hardly so monochromatic. Neither was it so abysmal in terms of gender diversity. (Of course, to contextualize, Obama's administration, on the whole, was far more diverse than Trump's.)

Yes, they are. 'Diversity'? What about diversity of thought? That's more important and substantive than diversity of skin color or gender.
CNN is almost homogeneous in the opinions and positions they take and support. What about having diverse opinions represented? What about presenting the news truthfully, without a monolithic agenda?
The tragic truth is that CNN would never support having truly conservative minorities or women on their staff. They want a 'rainbow coalition' of like-minded liberals.

Despite the lack of diversity, I’ll bet this group is far more effective than the diverse group that Obama picked.
Should he have looked at their sexual preferences and “gender” and race before he looked at their qualifications like Warren’s promise to select a transgender for Dept of Education?
Because in a crisis situation diversity is more important than competence.
I’d fix it by adding a minority team to do up front screening in China. I’d even make em all democrats.
I’m confident that when it comes to putting together a team to study and or stop the coronavirus, the American people do not want “diversity”. They want the best. Personally, if they were all black, female, left-handed, zenbuddhist, and one-legged, I couldn’t possibly care less. So long as they were the top experts in the field and gave us the best chance of stopping it.
