Early Wednesday evening, ABC News announced that chief national correspondent Matt Gutman would be suspended an undisclosed period of time for falsely stating during a Sunday afternoon ABC News Special Report that all four of the late Kobe Bryants daughters were on the helicopter that crashed in Calabasas, California, killing all nine passengers.
Well, it doesn’t sound like he was corresponding with anyone.

Although warranted, it’s a pretty random application of their random standards of reporting.
Wow. Haven't heard that screen name for many years.
What difference does it make at this time anyhow.
Recall that earlier this month the US media was running Iranian propaganda claiming that 30 US troops were killed in a missile attack.
I heard this report on Sunday at 3 pm eastern just before the start of the Pro Bowl. It was a throwaway line at the end of the report and ABC never retracted the statement on air (on ESPN). I was at a bar and we were all searching online for confirmation for the next hour.
...anyone suspended yet for saying Trump colluded with Russia?
She should have said nagger like south Park..
The reporter made a grievous error in reporting and was most justly suspended for this error.
Why does not ABC suspend reporters that repeat lie after lie after lie of rumors about President Trump? They even rarely correct the lie but let it just go down the “memory hole.”
Ted Coppout is still alive? I thought he was dead. Well, he’s mentally dead, anyway.
I happened to be driving around on Sunday afternoon when the news about Bryant developed. We were listening on the radio to the Fox News channel. Artelle Neiville was a co-anchor, and I don’t recall the name of her partner. They spent most of the afternoon blathering about the same few facts that were known, and little else.
I was struck by one segment where they were discussing things they could not discuss on the air. They actually said that a daughter was on the airplane with “Kobe” - they only used his first name - but they weren’t allowed by someone at Fox to discuss it until it became official. They then discussed something that came over a cell phone, while apparently looking at the phone. They said that this was “terrible news”. but weren’t allowed to say it, and “hoped it wasn’t true”. I could presume, now, that this was the fake story about the other three daughters.
This whole segment was extremely unprofessional behavior. It was bad enough that they were simply filling time all afternoon with endless blather and no new information, but to waste even more time teasing something they weren’t allowed to discuss, made it unbearable. We switched to silence.
“Reporting the facts accurately is the cornerstone of our journalism, an ABC News representative said”

Wasn’t he reading from prepared text? In that case, shouldn’t the writer be the one suspended?
